Ziggy is on Artemis as it's the best ingredients I could find for keeping his diet low purine (very important for Dalmatians). His stools are a bit soft so I supplement with a little Pro Plan Sensitive which seems to work well.

Em was doing well on Euk puppy when she came to us so I left her on that. She has recently switched to Artemis.

Both dogs have RMBs - Zig only chicken based (eg frames) but I try to give Em more of a variety. Plus all their training treats....raw mince, cooked chicken, cheese, 4 Legs etc.

Working at a pet store, in this area I can tell you Euk is the best premium seller. Advance is getting very popular up here as well, Royal Canin has been very steady since we started getting it 2-3 years back, and Proplan has more recently come up in popularity. Science Diet is pushed heavily by vets, but I find there are few customers who stay on it long because of the price and better specials with other premiums. Nutro is very much a small niche and I believe it will be deleted from our range in the next year if the demand remains the same. Though it is an Australian brand and well liked because of it, the premium market is simply a hard nut to crack and not enough people know anything about it.

There are differing trends up here to other areas though. In five years not a single customer has ever asked if we get Black Hawk Holistic for example. We have just started to get Eagle Pack, but usually the only customers who buy it are those who have moved up from down south. Holistic Select is another new one in our range and like Nutro, quite slow so far.

LOADS of Supercoat sells, tons and tons and tons of it - I'm amazed at how people buy it in bulk, actually - it's a very popular choice, along with Bonnie, for those who can't afford premiums.

Just to give more feedback from a pet store perspective (mid north coast of NSW) we seem to sell mostly Holistic Select but after these current supply issues Advance seems to have picked up (maybe being Aussie...we can tell customers no supply issues!) Hills and Euk and RC are next. I'm personally not a fan of Hills and Euk. We've had amazing feedback from Holistic for skin issues with maybe 3-4 negative responses, but I myself am switching to BH (shhh don't tell my boss lol) but i'm currently finishing off big bags of Pro Plan and Holistic Select.

I was in a certain pet store ;) the other day to buy a new lead & look at beds (need one that is indestructable) & I noticed all the Holistic Select there & I thought....Gee Black Hawk must be good if Cleo chooses it above all this good stuff. My two BC's are doing great on BH & love it so much, the puppy will move the meat aside so he can eat the BH first. He has been on it most of his 7 months & I noticed with his coat, it is so shiny & soft that dirt simply does not stick to it, no matter what he rolls in. The older girl who was only started on it as a 3 yo, has a lovely coat, but it doesn't shed the dirt like his. Wondering if this has something to do with the food, or the fact that he is still young?? Also, normally by this time of the year Bindi would be covered with ticks despite applying Advantix & Proban, but this year we are hard pressed to find any on them. We know they are around cause they have been crawling on us & we found a new born calf with hundreds on him (he is just fine). I was wondering if the food, just maybe helping to repel the little blighters, after all one of the claims of a food being "Holistic" is that it is for the "whole" body including pest control.

Euk, Hills and Advance are our top sellers. And yep Bonnies and Supercoat for the cheaper brands. I am seeing Nutro/ Natural choice sales are going up though :).

Our top sellers in the 'premuims' are Hills (unfortunately), Euk and Advance. And i would say Bonnie would sell more than Supercoat in the cheaper foods. Nutro sales are starting to pick up a bit now though.
