Mason_Gibbs
My pup started pup school last week and he has met a few friends vaccinated dogs. When other puppies take the play too far or get in his face for too long he makes a warning noise, not a growl but almost like a sharp bark - snarl. Now i have only ever had a very aggressive dog and then my other lab and he will let anyone do anything to him and never tell other dogs off. So i guess what i want to know is it normal for a pup to tell other pups off??
Guest Ams
Sounds normal. A puppy is just as entitled to tell another dog off if their behaviour is annoying. He may just be a more dominant dog than your current one so will have less tolerance of others. Just watch and make sure he doesn't do it to all dogs as that may indicate a problem. Mason_Gibbs
No he only does it to some pups and never to an older dog. My older dog is a very soft submissive dog but he is the boss of the puppy - for now.

Mason_Gibbs
He also raises his front paw when he makes the noise - if that means anything.
Guest Black Obsession
He also raises his front paw when he makes the noise - if that means anything. I always think when they use their paws it means "Now I've got something really important I wanna say, and I really want you to hear it!"
aussielover
Maybe aak your puppy school teacher. Perhaps because he already lives with another dog he is not so desperate for other puppies company, and is therefore less tolerant of them. persephone
..if he's raising a paw.... what is his head doing ? does he sort of twist/roll it ? it may well be a play thing . Hard to tell just from a written description ...Ask someone experienced who can carefully look and assess before doing anything to change it. Mason_Gibbs
Puppy school says he is fine but i am not 100% confident of the class i dont agree with everything they say. However he is starting our clubs pup school in 10 dsys time after his vac and the instructor is very experienced and i really trust her. He plays fine with some pups but others he will tolerate only up to a point.
Chris the Rebel Wolf
Doesn't sound too alarming. If he's only just started puppy school last week, you may find he becomes more and more comfortable with other pups in time
Cosmolo
Puppies should not correct other puppies- its like toddlers teaching toddlers. If other puppies are being rude to him, it is the handlers job to step in and stop it- not up to the puppy.

Mason_Gibbs
I always wanted him to attebd our obedience clubs pup school but as its held on a public ground i decided to wait until he had had his 12 week jab. I just took him to the other schook from 10 weeks to start his socialising
