EISHUND
I wouldn't be refunding one cent without a copy of the x-rays and a score on them from a qualified radiologist. Sometimes I wish we had the 'like' option like Facebook on here! I'm with you dancinbcs!
Stolzseinrotts
I'm with them ^^^^^^^^^^^ I wouldn't even consider that until I see proof.

espinay2
Yep - no X-ray proof, no refund. They would be the terms I would be sticking to.
LizT
Oh Fordogs how terrible for you. Yes the big question is WHY they didn't call you to let you know what was going on?
Kustali
I agree, i would not be giving any kind of refund if i had no proof that the dog actually had something wrong with it.
AdoubleJ
I agree - I wouldn't refund until xrays seen....... We have had one instance of HD in the dogs we breed (out of the blue!) - luckily mild - the owners already had another older dog from another breeder and didn't want anything from us, even though they couldn't do the agility they wanted to. When we heard that they had had to put their other dog down due to a brain tumour we offered them another puppy (free of course!) when they were ready. They waited 2 litters and then took another boy. She is now doing agility, obedience and Rally O. She also does Paws 2 Music with the HD girl as she can tailor moves to her. All this was missed by your owners just because they didn't get back to you when they should have done.......
Fordogs
I have finally spoken to the vet concerned and she claims to have told my puppy's owners NOT THAT SHE HAD HD but that her hips were NOT PERFECT. Then I asked about sending them to a specialist radiologist this is quoted by her " If they were sent to a specialist radiologist then he would say that the x-ray was NOT a good enough quality to confirm HD " I asked her why she thought that she was qualified to read them as NOT perfect hips? Now I will wait until next week to talk to the practice owner. It certainly looks as if RICCI was euthanized for NO REASON.
Wyntervale
Fordogs I am so very sorry that this has happened to you and your little girl. I'm still looking for a home for my little boy, but if I placed him and this happened I would be utterly heartbroken. I hope you get all the answers you need. sandgrubber
Talking with the practice owner is a good idea. I would be thinking lawsuit if this happened to me. If anyone should be paying for a refund, it's the vet practice. PTS'ing on the basis of a poor quality Xray is malpractice of the worst sort. Fordogs
I thought that I should update as I have spoken to both the vet who treated the puppy and the practice owner. Both of the vets that I have spoken to have told me that this puppy's OWNER was never told that the puppy was dysplastic and she was PTS against their advice. Their advice was that they take her home and at 12 months they should do a BETTER xray and have them scored as the xray they did was not good enough for scoring. This is completely different information from the email I received from her owner who told me that Ricci had hip dysplasia and the vet advised them to put her to sleep as she was in pain. I have emailed the owner as I need to hold back from the things I might say,(all I want is the truth and I really don't want to get into it on the phone). As I have to find out which party is being truthful, I explained to them exactly what their vets have said to me and if that is incorrect please take it up with them not me. And also that if they (owners) are still refusing to release the xrays then we have no further contact with them.
Kia
How distessing for you. I have to wonder, if the xrays were not good enough for scoring how were they good enough to say they weren't perfect..... Unfortunatly as breeders we will get some of these sort of owners....no matter how diligent we try to be.
fifi
Just heartbreaking and so scary when we know this could happen to any breeder. Perhaps if you could get the vets to put in writing what they have told you - to cover yourself against any possible action by the pup's owner. One never know's when a person will get a bee in their bonnet & decide to become litigious. fifi
Fordogs
Thanks fifi, I didn't think of that but from what they have said so far I am not sure that it would happen as they will not share any records without the owners consent
