Tintin Jac
I'm hooked. I've only seen the last couple of minutes but it seems really interesting. Thanks
Guest Black Obsession
Watching it now, thanks. It's been on before, but I keep missing it. I'd like to buy it...I rang Dymocks but it isn't available. Not sure why.
fuzzy82
I watched it last time it was on. Very interesting.
lilli_star
The segment about the Silver Foxes was really interesting. Also the segment about Betsy the Border Collie. Roo can fetch a few of her toys by name (Rabbit, Bubbles, Whale, Ball), but I doubt she could do it from a photo!
Guest Black Obsession
Is it just on once for an hour or is it a weekly series?
Mrs Rusty Bucket
bugga. I've seen it. That segment about silver foxes was interesting in the most traumatic and disturbing way.
lilli_star
bugga. I've seen it. That segment about silver foxes was interesting in the most traumatic and disturbing way. Yes, I agree. The first part of it was really disturbing, and to be honest, I almost changed the channel when I saw the "farm" and heard about the experiments But the bit I found interesting was how they changed through the selective (I guess that's how you would describe it) breeding. More so the physical changes. They are beautiful animals.

White Shepherd mom
bugga. I've seen it. That segment about silver foxes was interesting in the most traumatic and disturbing way. +1 We found that very distressing. me too. I did not enjoy that part. Also, when she was pointing to the cups with the food underneath to test whether a dog understands our hand signals, were the dogs following her instruction or their nose? Surely a dog can find the food under the cup without a human pointing to it?
Mrs Rusty Bucket
I know a few dogs that cannot find food under a cup or towel even if they see you put it there. It is supposed to be an "intelligence test" to see if they can find the food, or if they even look for it, and then figure out how to get the food. And variations include letting them see you put the food (that they know is food) in position. My dog has got me trained to get for her, kibble that bounced out of the squirrel dude and under the lounge chairs out of reach. ROOO and a really strong "point" with her whole body. lovemymutts
I also was flicking through channels & came upon it when they had the BC on. Then it went to the Silver Foxes & I had to turn it off after a few minutes. IMO there is NO reason to do such "research" I am sick of "research" that occurs without benefit & it happens all the time. Sometimes humans need to learn to leave things be & not interfere with nature! We truly are very selfish beings.

OSoSwift
I loved it but also found the bit on the foxes distressing due to their cages. Surely they could great better runs for them than wire cages with no shelter? I realise that there is no way you could get int here with the nasty ones and the runs have wire botooms for faeces etc to fall through, but still I didn't like the conditions.
