Teebs
Hi guys I am going to try to get into the vets on monday but thought for now i would try here and see if anyone has any ideas. Atlas is 8 years old and desexed. The last few weeks he has gotten bad with humping, he comes inside and grabs the cat bed and goes for it. I distract him and make him stop as often as I can. I do know this can be a behaviour thing but nothing has changed at all to make him start this. I did get a basic check over by the vets a few weeks ago and mentioned it to her, she just said that something must have changed to get him to start doing this. 2 things. 1 Before he had a lot of trouble with his penis. it would pop out and get stuck (i am sure most of you remember my threads about it!) This hasnt happened at all over the last few weeks and i have noticed that it does not show at all when he is excited, i am not sure if this is normal or if it is something to have checked out? 2. tonight he came in and grabbed the cat bed and started to hump. I took it off him and he stopped for a while, a bit later he got up and air humped then stopped and weed all over the ground. he has NEVER gone to the toilet inside, even as a puppy. This is NOT normal at all and i am not sure what could be going on? I would love some suggestions to what this could be because I am at a loss Thanks Edited October 5, 2011 by Teebs

Staffyluv
Keep a check on him and if he starts to drool a lot get him to the vet ASAP. His symptoms are similar to Ollie's when he had bladder stones Could also be a UTI

Christina
Remove the cat for a few days & see how he behaves. If all is normal then its a dominance/psychological thing, maybe somethings upset him ? If there is anything physical wrong & he humps other stuff or does weird things you will know. Maybe hard to keep a cat seperate but can't think of any other way to find out.
Teebs
It is the cat bed that he goes for, and if it isnt there, he will grab anything else that is around (thats why i leave the bed there, it is easy to clean and i dont care if it gets ruined) Vets open at 11 so will see if they can fit me in

sheree_e4
Sounds to me its a dominance thing.... Humping = Dominance and peeing the same thing. For some reason something in the pack structure must have changed. It does not matter if a dog is desexed or not they will still dry hump things to show their dominace. The urinating is a scent reminder of the fact he is boss, or trying to be.
Teebs
no, i honestly do not believe it is a dominance thing, he isnt marking at all, it is like he couldnt control himself.

Teebs
ok just got home, he is having full bloods run as well as had a urine test, results should be in this afternoon or early tomorrow. She wants to book him in for an ultrasound as well. Vet is worried about PKD, we also found another lump on him that has to be tested. She said he seems very tucked up under his tummy and something is going on. Need good thoughts for good results back

Teebs
I didnt get all the exact words but she said he has higher urea levels than he should have and mentioned that his urine was too dilated (or not enough?? god i am hopeless). He is going back in on Wednesday to see the specialist and get an ultrasound and go from there
