Why not do both?

When I first started to do heelwork I thought it was going to be boring but I find it much more fun to do than freestyle now.

Good choreography will make your heelwork as entertaining as your freestyle. ;)

So the question is do I subject the trainee judges to my somewhat entertaining DWD routine or do I offer a HTM routine . I can get both ready the question is which LOL.

Do both :) says me after you talked me into to doing both.

Having trouble finding the right outfit for my piper routine :( and I must remember not to play my instrument while dancing with it..

 nawww I am really hoping there is video of your routine kallistar - like I said they only want one or the other to give other people an opportunity. Ended up telling them I'd do a novice level freestyle - they might as well learn how to deal with an enthusiastic dog who likes to throw in the occasional bit of barking . I just won't amp the routine up to quite the level we did at the royal - well thats if Kenz lets me keep it a little less amped.

Nah you really don't want to see it.... Remember I haven't had any lessons at all. I have looked at Utube to get some sort of idea of what to do. So it might be a bit on the ugly side.

So what novice routine will you do for them?

We got our Starters Freestyle title last weekend - despite Shandy losing several points each time due to her enthusiastic barking! Go the freestyle- you obviously both enjoy it!

Congrats on your title

I was wondering if you are going to the DWD seminar in Canberra in October????

BC4ME, I will be going to the workshop in Canberra. I'm looking forward to it! Although we have some really talented performers and trainers in Canberra, we are a bit isolated, and its great to get input from others with interesting ideas and insights.

Rubystar, here's our freestyle routine

Shandy and I doing our Canine Freestyle starters to Juice Newton’s Queen of Hearts

. This was a pass, and our starters title.

What a great routine

Tony has told me you have some great performers down there, I look forward to meeting you all when I come down for the seminar ;)

Congrats on getting your title :) And what a lovely routine :)

For those in the know, can you use the same piece of music all the way through or is it wise to change it? And after you have got your starters title, what does Novice involve?

Kalistar - There is nothing in the rules to say you can't use the same routine & music right through but you must remember the higher in the classes you go the longer and more difficult your routine is expected to be.

Most people up here in QLD use the same routine for starters and novice then a new one for intermediate then expand on it for advance.

Thanks for the kind words, kallistar and BC4Me! I'm a bellydancer by training, so my HTM routine is to a Turkish pop song, but I chose Queen of Hearts because the music seemed to work really nicely for Shandy.

BC4Me, I hadn't realised that's who you are! I'm really looking forward to your workshop. We are having a lot of fun with a new sport in Canberra, and and unusual assortment of dogs - Shandy is the first Cardi (and we think the first corgi) to title, Fresia became the first Saluki and we also have a huski with one leg, and a Wolfhound ready to compete as well.

Nice routine CleoJ - well done. We are working at our barking issue - now we we play games at the park and I sent her around the tree and she barks she gets a NRM and I don't reward and we try again. We actually got some nice sends around the trees but without the barking so maybe there is hope for us yet.
