There were a couple of mock trials at the start of the season too - March like. One at Gawler and one at West Beach. And SAODC did a mock games trial though not very many people came. Apparently the other club that was supposed to be running a real trial decided to run a mock obedience trial instead. Those of us that came enjoyed ourselves. What do you mean about a beauty contest? Tomorrow's my bridal shower, that's why I can't go. And the only mock trial I'd go to would be Para's, but unfortunately the dates have clashed, because they're my club and that's where we do agility. Your bridal shower and it clashes with your dog club's mock trial - it was great fun by the way even if the only thing we did correctly was our second run at Joy's squillion tunnels. And they had "judges pick" prizes - which mostly went as encouragement awards for newbies. Anyway, scheduling not quite as bad as two hockey players I knew who organised their wedding on the same day as their hockey finals. Took out most of the first and second grade teams - mens and womens. Wasn't a good year that one, but the marriage did last. So I saw on the telly (show I tape so I can fast forward thru the ads, removes about 3/4 of it) a segment about how stop babies choking. And she recommended a first aid course about dealing with children's emergencies as a baby shower present. Or bridal shower for some. Just a thought, something to add to the gift list. I do have bridesmaids who are also busy, and unfortunately this was the only weekend we all had free. We used to live at West beach, but that was nearly 18 years ago For 14 years I used to live 5 minutes drive from Semaphore before I moved rural. At least 4 visits a week to the beach with the dogs, its lovely. Lots of people walk their dogs there & many would often chat & say hello. There is a path from jetty to jetty as far as Largs Bay so if the weather is bad for walking on the sand the path is still a nice walk. Cafes along the mains street used to be dog friendly many bringing a bowl of water out for your dog along with your coffee. Hope its still the same. I miss the beach. Mrs Rusty Bucket Posted September 30, 2011 Share Posted September 30, 2011 I looked in Semaphore when I was shopping for a house, there are some gorgeous old villas there. I got told to avoid Hall street. It has a lot of group housing for people that are not all that people friendly. I don't know if it has changed since I was there last but a walk from one end to the other and back should give you a feel for if you can handle it or not. Houses around there are probably 10% cheaper tho. The other thing that concerned me, call me paranoid, is that most of Semaphore is or is close to under sealevel ie maxes out at about 1m or 2m over sea level so if there are any big storms the whole area could flood. On the up side, Sempahore road has great shops and Sotos is my fave fish and chip shop in the whole of Adelaide, with a 45 minute wait some days, it pays to ask how long and go for a walk up the beach and back while your order works to the front of the queue.
