SpotTheDog
I hope the mods don't mind me putting this in this forum. Given the current stir about BSL in Victoria, I figured it was pertinent to ask the DOLers to spare a thought for a six year old pooch in Belfast today. Today's the day that crossbreed sweetie Lennox will either be set free or killed by Belfast City Council. Seized from a family who are, inarguably, some of the most responsible dog owners you could ever hope to meet, Lennox has been held in solitary confinement since May 2010 under a clause in Northern Ireland's dog legislation that allows a warden to seize a dog based purely on whether or not it appears to be of 'pit bull type'. If you're unfamiliar with the story, familiarise yourself on the links below, and please do whatever you usually do when you're wishing for something good to happen. www.savelennox.co.uk http://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Lennox/125005200853097

Hopefully all the public support and support from celebrities will help to set him free. Best ofluck to Lennox and his owners today.

Dju
Court ran into overtime and day two is being held on the 23rd. No news yet.
Tapua
I wonder if the same law is relevant in this situation - I know you cannot lock-up a human for what they 'might do wrong' so how come you can lock-up a dog for 'looking like it might bite' one day? rebelsquest
There's also a petition at http://www.savelennox.co.uk/ which already has over 85,000 signatures. Hopefully on the 23rd the right decision will finally be made and this boy can go home to his family.

Guest donatella
:mad :mad :mad :mad :mad Despite the outright perjury of Belfast dog wardens and the conflicting testimony of prosecution witnesses, Belfast County Court Judge Derek Rodgers has ordered that Lennox, the six year old bulldog/Labrador Retriever, to be destroyed because he looks like a pit bull. It was proven in court that Lennox, the service/therapy dog of a 12-year-old disabled girl, is not a pit bull and is not aggressive or dangerous. There were no complaints against the dog, he did not bite anyone, was not running at large. He was arbitrarily seized last May 2010by the dog wardens. The matter has become an international issue with over 106,000 people signing a petition to free Lennox. The court had said it would consider such a petition if 100,000 signatures were obtained. The court lied. Lennox has been locked away since May, 2010. The family has not been allowed to see him or him them and they have not been told where he is being imprisoned. A travesty, a total injustice when lies and deceit control the court. A statement on the Save Lennox Facebook page says “A very sad day for animal lovers, a very sad day for the justice system and a worse day for Lennox. Judge ruled in favor of BCC stating Lennox is too unpredictable. So sad to see that perjury, lies, corruption and cruelty can be rewarded in such a way! God help us all as humans we all need to step back look at ourselves and ask questions 9-30-11 http://www.northcountrygazette.org/2011/09/30/lennox_injustic/
