GrumpySmurf
Kahlua is progressing well with his training including 5 minutes stay with "TOT". But being a puppy once or twice a day (usually early morning or late afternoon, he will go on a crazy rampage, running like mad and jumping. What would you do about this? - Totally ignore it? - Reprimand him? - Play / encourage it as it is harmless and damn cute??
persephone
He's a young healthy animal... he is entitled.. rather he NEEDS to have periods where he can run and enjoy life ..to stretch those muscles, and get an endorphin rush . It is, IMO essential- part of growing up .... BTW the very technical term for that behaviour..is ZOOMIES
GoldenGirl85
What to do? sit back and enjoy the zoomies!!! My pup only discovered zoomies a few months ago, I would have loved to see her do zoomies when she was little, but its oh so amusing now that she is a lanky almost 2yo lol
dandybrush
i encourage it, my 3 yr old will still have zoomies when i play the game with him now i love seeing them so happy racing round the place
aussielover
It sounds totally normal to me. In fact I would be worried if they didn't need their daily dose of zoomies!! My 1 and half year old still does ;)
Bundyburger
Sit back and laugh unless he is actually biting and being naughty. My 2yo does the best zoomies in the yard, I often end up in tears of laughter. Great for the soul.
suziwong66
I'm with everyone else & Bundyburger; enjoy unless there is biting etc in which case I put Wilbur in a 'vet' hold til he settles; which is usually very quickly. Zoomies crack me up...the rounded bum run around the yard is hilarious
GrumpySmurf
That's great - now we can enjoy it without worrying he is *un-training*
Marion 01
This is a good example of a zoomie in action even though it's a still pic.
Mason_Gibbs
My 9,5 week old even does it - I just leave him be unless he is really causing an issue in the house...
melinda10786
My two do it, the youngest more than others.. Its just their way of burning energy.. I tend to encourage that zoomies happen in the yard versus in the house though.
claireybell
Both of mine have zoomie time twice a day and they are 3 and 4! It's hilarious coz they stir each other up and their tails are wagging the entire time! I love zoomie time
BC Crazy
Both of mine do Zoomies at least twice a day. Flat stick,as fast as they can go. I love to watch them. I'd be worried something was wrong with them if they didn't as it is very much part of their daily routine. I can almost set the clock on when the little one will do it after being hosed off after coming home from the beach. Just before dinner in the arvo. Sometimes when I first let her out in the morning. she even throws in a few summersalts in for good measure Just letting off steam I think. I cringe sometimes as I don't think they are going to stop in time & run into the fence but they do. Edited September 14, 2011 by BC Crazy
