Bjelkier
I met a number of Paps and they are fantastic little dogs (I would love one but Mr Bjelkier dosn't like them ) The ones I have met at shows and agility trials have been a bit yappy but I just asumed that was excitment. We boreded a few at the kennel I worked at and they were quiet most of the day.
Lady Flying Furball
My pap barks at other dogs but never a word inside, even with outside sounds, and is a good watch dog. When there was a burglar around our apartment building he growled, no barking. I also walk him some days around the block, that's it! Other days take him to the park for some running. They are a very unique kind of breed, VERY alert, but don't mistake it for high energy. They are highly recommended for elderly people and apartment living. Guest Panzer Attack!
I've met around 5, 2 of which are mine (well, one's a foster) and the others only in passing. I went to a Pap specialty show around a month ago and none of them were barking. There were about 20 there. Some of the other toys, on the other hand, were quite vocal! :D 1 was very anti-social with other dogs, but was raised in kennels so I'm guessing was fairly undersocialised. The other two were friendly and relaxed. One was from a BYB and the other from a rescue, so very different personalities, but both chipper and really nice to groom. The two here were raised very differently and as a result have very different personalities too. Scooter (mine) is very outgoing, feisty, loves to tug and is fairly obsessed with toys. He will bark if a dog barks at him first, but we're working on his vocals and he's gotten a lot better as time has gone on. The dog next door barks ALL THE TIME which does not help, but he barely barks when we go watch his dad (human) and brother (dog) at agility, big difference from the first time where he barked non-stop! It's all about training. He loves other dogs a little too much sometimes, he's just a typical silly pup but he's getting more polite the more dogs he meets. He's very high energy and will start to destroy things (slowly LOL) if he's not exercised enough, mentally and physically. Len, the foster, is sooo different to Scooter! He's the quietest dog I've ever known. Scooter play bowed and barked in his face for around five minutes straight when I gave Len a pigs ear and he just sat there and did nothing LOL. He's not as relaxed around other dogs and is quite fearful in general, but in the week and a half he's been here with me he's improved in leaps and bounds. He was petrified of men when he arrived here, but is getting better now he's met my housemates, le boy and a couple of my friends. He's absolutely gorgeous. He leaps into the air when he's happy, he's so easy to train (as is Scooter!) and he's becoming very smoochy. I adore him. He's not been socialised either (was an unwanted throw-in-the-backyard dog before coming to me) but he's just so clever and willing to please. He's got issues that are unrelated to his breed, but as far as Paps go, sometimes I love him more than my own boy! I haven't walked him since he got here (vaccinations) and he hasn't cared in the least. They're an amazing little breed and I can't go on enough about how much I love Scooter (and Lenny). I will warn you that once you get one you WILL get addicted... I'm currently researching my next pup for when Scooter turns 2. E x
Rascalmyshadow
I have groomed quite a few and have loved all but one which was quite snappy and reactive, the rest have been happy fun dogs. One actually looked cross eyed, he was so cute. Definately a breed I would love to own.
