Tassie
Just saw that on the AgilityVic list - and assumed it was "our" Jess and Darcy - FANTASTIC!!! What a triumph. And TSD - soiunds like you and the Ziggy man had a pretty good day at the office - I love it when you can really enjoy runs (or even bits of them) even if they're not Qs. :D
J...
Thanks J - I think you're doing just fine with your feral young lady all on your own Thanks TSD, H and Tassie - it was a lovely course, bit tricky to remember but lots of fun. I'm still in a state of shock I think - I was lucky to get a run given I was 1st reserve but to come out and win it - wow! Thankfully I don't get overly nervous once in I'm in the ring and Darcy doesn't pick it up from me in agility anyway. I hear quite a few have it videoed, I'd love to see the run as well as the rest of the Top Dog runs for both Agility and Jumping as I didn't watch much of it. Pic of Darcy with her prizes from yesterday And not to be outdone, baby sister Zee who won Novice Agility Edited September 4, 2011 by Jess. The Spotted Devil
Jess, you were so calm!!!!! I was sitting right near the tunnel that the first few dogs took the wrong entry. Were you watching that and did you change how you handled Darcy? Talk to Sal (photographer) as I'm sure she was with someone who videoed both rings. Jazz's run in agility was glorious - well deserved win as well. Tassie, we had a great day - no passes but Zig has come so far in just 18 months of trialling that I couldn't be more pleased

J...
Funny you ask that TSD because I was discussing it with an experienced Top Dog finalist in the morning, I said I had no plans to watch any of the Jumping and just go out there and run my own run. He says he often watched the first few runs just in case there was something he missed, which I thought about during the morning. In the end I was more happy to go out, warm Darcy up away from the hurrah of the Jumping Ring and not watch - I figured I'd walked that course probably 20+ times and if I hadn't identified the issues by then I needed a foot in the bum. ;) Nothing against anyone else's choices - we all do things differently but that was what I was most comfortable with. I knew the team before me had gone clear but that was it, I had a sense that several dogs had blown the tunnel discrimination just due to the noise factor but it didn't change how I handled it. I had no doubt in the world that Darcy could nail every part of that course, including the tunnel discrimination and I just had to go out there and help her do it, and not do anything stupid. I do get a bit nervous but at the acknowledgement to the judge it's gone - I can't explain it other than to say that you could've dropped a bomb outside that ring and I wouldn't have heard it. I didn't hear a thing until I took Darcy's lead from the lead steward. Then I heard the roar and figured we must've done pretty well. I really feel for those who do get really nervous, it's so much work to even get into Top Dog and then have it gone in a heartbeat because nerves get the better of you
The Spotted Devil
That's awesome :D I'm absolutely thrilled for you! It was such a wonderful atmosphere. The roar was a giveaway that you'd nailed it alright!!! Yes, I conquered my nerves by having a dog that really needs my support and all my concentration. I owe him that much. RubyStar
Congrats, Jess and Darcy! (and Zee!) Just watched the runs, looked like a nice course! (that I wouldn't have a hope in handling, but it's funny how nice it can look when you see experienced people run it )
Vickie
Congratulations Jess . It was a brilliant run on what looked like a very tricky course.
