What Classes To Enter?

Recommended Posts

I am just filling in my entry form for my first ANKC jumping comp. What classes should I enter?

I would prefer to be in more than one event, Novice, but not sure what is appropriate?? I have been competing with ADAA, so not new to competeing, just new to ANKC.

Have to get the enrty off this afternoon, so anyone who is online I would love you advice!!

You could enter Open Jumping if your dog is fine with the weaving and can do distance challenges. My youngster entered both Novice Jumping and Open Jumping when I entered our first ANKC trial but she was happily running the trialling courses at training and was a good weaver and distance worker. I was also prepared if the distance challenge was to complicated to go over the line and assist her.

You can enter your level in Jumping and Agility - so would be Novice for both. You can also enter the Open events if you wish (have a distance handling challenge and set at around Excellent level, open to all dogs)

If they are having it at the trial you can also enter Gamblers Dog (GD) Strategic Pairs Dog (SPD) if you have a partner, Snooker Dog (SD) & RQH . Entering the Open events agility & Jumping gives you good experience even if you cross the line to assist your dog in the exclusion zones.
