Scratches On Face

Hi all

I have my SBT boy Ripley signed up for his very first show next Friday as Baby Puppy but I have notice he a few scratches and cuts around his jowls.

First question is, if he still has some healing scratches on him at time of show, will this go against him in judging?

Secondly, does anyone know if I can do anything to help them heal quickly? They aren't very deep, you can hardly see them but you can feel them when rubbing him over.

Really shouldn't be an issue at all so don't stress about it. I like vitamin E cream for random skin blemishes but if it's on his top lip/muzzle he'll just lick it off so probably not worth bothering with

If they are as small as they sound I would certainly show him, especially as a baby puppy (unless they cause him pain and in an area the judge is likely to touch).

Thanks I will pop a little vit E cream on and see how he goes. As for the cuts themselves, he doesn't seem worried when they are touched. I was just worried that the judges might not like him have cuts/blemishes (not that they are a "normal" thing) Oh well, we'll see how we go ;)

on a baby, nope....on a terrier breed...we refer to them as 'honourable scars' hehe..you should see some of the ones I've seen (and shown) in the past in that group! Didn't affect the judging in any way!

I would show him because he's a baby. Babies are there more for experience. As long as they don't hurt (i.e. don't wreck his experience) it should be fine.
