oakeydoak1
Hi All A couple of my 11 day old puppies seem to have some diarrhea, it is yellow and waterish. They are all eating fine and are putting on weight (minimum weight gain in 4 days is 100g) should I be getting them to the vet in the morning? Mum's milk looks a normal colour, there is no yuck discharge from her at all. I know my last litter had diarrhea around the same age but mum was on antibiotics. Just a little concerned, any advice would be greatly appreciated. They dont seem to be dehydrated, when pinched their skin seems to go back down relatively quickly. oakeydoak1
Thanks BB that is what I thought, as long as they are not dehydrated and are feeding they should be ok until then shouldnt they?
Shazzapug
Depends where you live...do you have Hookworm where you live? Was the mother wormed regularily during pregnancy? But they arent Pugs...so should be fine till morning.

Shazzapug
Its just with all this rain it brings out lots of worms...we lost 2 pug puppies to Hookworm in Qld last year.

Will ring the vet first thing in the morning.
Bilbo Baggins
They should be okay overnight if hydrated well.
Jetpoint GSP
Mine went through a similar thing early on and we did end up having antibiotics at the vet the next morning. they were fine overnight as they were well hydrated, we also ended up giving some lectade feeds to give them a break from mum's milk and let their tummy's settle and ended up using scourban too. We think mum's milk might have been a bit rich for them. Then after we got it cleared up mum went on AB's for some mastitis and we did the whole thing again! oakeydoak1
Vet gave us some Neo-Sulcin to clear it up, seems to have done the job. Have another appointment on Saturday for an immunisation for another dog so if not better can take them in then but all looking good for now! Thanks all. shellbyville
I had the same with my litter of lab pups, at exactly the same age. Took a faecal sample to vets and nothing showed up, so we assumed the mum had lovely rich milk and a lot of it! I gave them some scourban for a few days and then a few doses of protexin which did the trick. My pups were doing VERY well, no dehydration and not pooing a lot, just when they did it was rather loose and very smelly as well. All is good now though. Glad all is good with your little guys!
