Youtube Channel With Good Training Videos

Recommended Posts

1 of the puppies from my last litter has had an unfortunate accident while playing that has resulted in a broken leg and a 3 month old border collie puppy needing to be kept quiet. The owners are lovely and absolutely devastated about what has happened and are looking for ideas of things to do to stop her going stir crazy.

I have suggested they do some clicker training and train some fun tricks and thought as they are beginner trainers that it would be helpful to send them some video links. There are so many out there though so I figured I would ask here if anyone knows any good channels on youtube that would be worth sending them. I am looking for info on clicker training, target training and any tricks. I know I have seen lots of good videos posted here so am hoping someone can help me.

Tricks are fun. I do a lot of shaping for tricks-- I was able to teach Brennan to open/shut doors via shaping. The possibilities are endless, I don't see the need for a dog to do the trick 'perfectly', to me it's all about fun and spending time with the dog. There are a LOT of trick dog video's on You Tube, lots of channels. I hope your friends have fun trying them out. Some tricks can be learnt quicker then others, it took me a year for Brennan to be able to do the 'Sit Pretty' trick, although I didn't work on it as often as I could have.

Kikopup was the 1 I was trying to remember, thanks :)

I agree it is not about doing them perfectly. These guys are new to training and just need things to do with a 3 month old border collie on confinement due to a fracture. It is as more for mental stimulation and developing relationship and I think they will really take to it and have a lot of fun.

I had already suggested basic targetting, opening and closing cupboard doors, nodding, shaking head, drop with head down, paw over face, cross paws. The injury is in a hind leg so things like beg and spin are out. I started off trying to type out how to train some of them and then decided videos would be much easier for them
