Rileys mum
Quick question as Im not sure if i can do this or not.... My boy is raw fed and I purchased some large containers of natural yogurt and eggs really dirt cheap today. to save me wasting them because i won't get through it all before the use by date i was thinking of freezing it and taking an egg and scoops of yogurt as needed. Can i do this safely do you think? Many thanks :-)
Alyosha
I think the eggs would crack/pop as the insides froze and expanded. What if you whip them into the yoghurt and then freeze as a mixture?
Rileys mum
I hadnt thought about the explosion factor but your probably right...the inside would expand. Whisking them up is a good idea...cheers. i think that may be the way to go
Guest Ams
The yoghurt will separate when it thaws but if it's only for the dog i guess he won't mind. the freezing process will probably kill the probiotics though which would negate the use of it in the first place though. Rileys mum
THats true too. Maybe ill whisk up the eggs and just use as much yoghurt as i can before the use by date. i got it that cheap its not going to bother me wasting it if i have to. cheers guys
sandgrubber
No problem. If you don't like the separation of the yoghurt, whip up the eggs with the yoghurt. You could even throw in some oatmeal and flaxseed and other goodies and make a healthy 'ice cream'. Egg yolk is a good emulisfier and should help keep the yoghurt from separating. But really, separation of yoghurt doesn't affect its nutritional value, and it's hard to get anything to grow on dairy products that will harm a dog. I feed moldy cheese ends to mine all the time. smooch
Eggs can be frozen, wisk up and freeze in ice cube trays or similar, they can be used in baking, scrambled eggs, omelets etc.
