rubiton Posted August 29, 2011 Share Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Out walking yesterday and had two dogs rush out of a residence and charged at my own dog. Yelled enough to drive one off and then had to yell again and ultimely kick the second one away from my dog at the last second before it connected. And then more yelling when it came back again. Eventually owner came out and yelld at dogs herself and they finally went back from wherever they came. All good? well no as I had been yelling and snarling back at these dogs for a while by the afternoon my throat was quite scratchy and voice raspy. Today due to actually having to talk through the day at work I've now got the very sore throat and nose running (like when you get hayfever). So now hoping with taking throat lozenges and trying not to talk that the pain and nose actually clears up and doesnt go and get a lot worse (or develop into something). Cant even walk the dogs as doing physical exercise would probaly not be all that good for trying to calm the inflamed area down. All because someone could not contain their dog aggressive dogs. When I walk my dog Tilly on the lead I find that there are loads of dogs charging at their front fences. Fortunately they have been in secure yards, but it is still pretty intimidating. Even if my own front yard was secure, I wouldn't let any of my dogs out there unsupervised if they were going to charge the fence aggressively anytime a dog walked past. rubiton Posted August 29, 2011 Author Share Posted August 29, 2011 Thanks for the advice - will try the salt later. The throat lozenge worked briefly but seems to help if I dont talk too!! Yes there are plenty of yarads that have dogs barking along inside the house or the yard but they are secure so that isnt a problem - even the odd one that tries to come out and has an owner doing something proactive before it gets anywhere near the path or puts thm on a lead or something. There are a group of friendly dogs most alot younger than ours that are often at the park but the owners are responsible and the way the young ones bounce over is completely different from the ones that rushed out. I think what also annoyed me was the fact the owner didnt even react just glared at me til I left (I did glare at her but just couldnt think of what to say without going off at her). I would phone and ask to talk to the Chief Ranger . . . make a real stink . . . until I see some sign that the dogs are in solid confinement and their owners have gotten a serious fine. Loose dogs are causing illness, now?? Wow, watch out everyone. Keep some throat lozenges on you when out walking the dogs. I'm gonna dose up on Vitamin C before I take my boys out. Stay safe! Well you can also strain your voice yelling at vicious dogs who are charging at you and your dog. Which is what i have done and the nose has reacts to the sore throat. Its not an illness its a strain plus a reaction. Wouldnt have happened if the owner could control her dog aggressive animals. Its similar to getting hayfever plus the strained voice (sore throat). What would you do stand there and let two dogs attack your own dog and then have to pay up the vet bills (being a sunday just add more expense) then try and get the other owner to pay? Or was it I didnt mention it was a SWF and staffy x - the SWF was the leader the other just followed but went further and got close enough to lunge at my dog who was under my control on a short lead.
