sandgrubber
I just discovered the OFFA database. Wonderful to find you can follow through a dog's progeny, half siblings, etc. for hips/elbows/CERF and cardiac . .. if and where tests were done. see, eg http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=283997#animal The vertical pedigree option is useful, too. Mason_Gibbs
Is it only for american dogs??
RallyValley
I love it! Especially since my girl has an American background so I can track her ancestors. It's very interesting how early some breeders started hip scoring, then you hear about breeders today that don't, especially in high risk breeds! Aziah
Is it only for american dogs?? I believe any dog scored by OFA can be included on the register (providing the owner ticks the box to make the results public).
periannath
Open registers are a great source of information. They are in my opinion anyway even more invaluable for disease that there is no conclusive or DNA test for. The bull terrier miniature Club UK has had one for PLL(primary lens luxation) for many years.Other countries including Australia also had their own that were collated into the UK list regularly. You had to be the breeder or owner of the dog for inclusion. It was the only way anyone from anywhere in the world could even begin to get idea of what dogs in their lines had come down with this late onset blinding disease. I believe the JRT USA also had an open register for PLL.
mita
The tibetan spaniel breeders have an international data base on documented health checks. Country of origin is denoted by their flag. This process is overviewed by an International Working Party, which has representatives in each country, including Australia. http://www.tibbies.net/itswp/health-tests On same site, there's a search facility for a tibetan spaniel pedigree data base. Again, international.
