Ok going to bump this - received an open email re participation in the judges exam in January and pending what the specialist says about Kenz she will be doing both a freestyle and a heelwork to music routine.

And nothing like jumping in the deep end but I am thinking I'll nominate intermediate routines for both . Her heelwork is normally one of her strong points so I think we should do ok other than I have to see if i can refind her RHS heelwork in a month when she also isnt suppose to be doing much. Novice just seems so unexciting and I would rather give the judges something to practice judging .

And her freestyle routine came off with no concern and I think she would go out there again and put together a similar quality routine.

So anybody got any ideas for a song for a HTM routine. I have a few options but I would love something with a nice change of tempo. I had a brilliant starters routine song with a lovely slow section in it - Bippidy Bopiddy boo but its only just over 2 min which isn't long enough for Intermediate. Any thoughts?

Maybe you could add in an extra chorus or 2 ness if you can't find anything else suitable.

I went to the Dec trial in Sydney on the weekend. Two Canberra dogs got their starter's titles. A Siberian Husky thought to be the 1st one in Aus & an Irish Wolfhound (& yes they did a little bit of weaving), thought to be the 1st in the world. Well done to Taxi & Claude & their handlers. You can see photos from the comp at ffire photography.

Oh, & I was told on the day that it would be a very good idea if Tilba & I participated in the DWD demos at the Sydney Pet & Animal Expo in February. Said I needed to break the ice.

ETA: Anyone else doing the demos?

LOL.. and here I am having trouble deciding what song to use for Novice Freestyle and Novice HTM.. so I am no help to you Ness. One that I had thought of was SnowPatrol's Chasing Cars, but not sure how to dance to it.

So many songs are running through my head now it is not funny. And Itunes is being a pain as it won't let me join up or otherwise I am doing something wrong! I am after David Hobson singing Loch Lomond as it will suit Meg to a T. Any ideas???

If you know what sort of pace your dog works best at, then a music database, around the right BPM, is a handy starting point for ideas.

This one;

I've found this one really good - you can even look up songs you've really liked working to, and it will give you recommendations for similar songs. My girl paces really nicely at around 115 BPM, so I look at music a beat or two either side of this.

Kenz works nicely at all paces . Although I am not so sure she will be able to do it anymore - she is now having a treatment on her shoulder next week and there seems to be some evidence around that she way well then need a few weeks rest :(.

Hey Ness how are you going with your routines? I have hit a brick wall with Tux. Got plenty of ideas for the Goldie though.

Hmmm yeah it will be 100% improvised if she is up to it. We have been asked to do 2 demos the following week at a dog park opening as well.

I think I have a HTM song picked just a matter of hoping I can make up a routine.

You will do fine and your routine will come together really quickly,

A friend of mine is going to give freestyle a go and showed me part of her routine, which I was naughty and changed the start for her as her boy doesn't sit still at her side. So I got her to sit him in front and it was much better.

Best pull my finger out and get a routine going as March is looming and so is the DWD trial at Ballarat. (schedule is out on their site)

Good luck Ness

 I am not that worried - more concerned on Kenz's level of fitness and whether her shoulder will have settled enough to risk doing it by when we are suppose to be doing it :o. Edited by ness

Hmmm Kenz is seriously stir crazy she had her PRP injection on the 21st and has been on a combination of crate rest and no walks since - hmmmmm lets just say she is feral . Think she is due back for a second injection in the next week or so and then its slowly does it.

ETA.

And I seem to have jinxed the bloody dog - she decided to have a 30 second mad zoomie episode after posting this and at the moment I am just hoping the damage isn't lasting .

Fingers are crossed that everything will be ok and that her 30sec zoomie even though it was fun hasn't had any ill effect

Stay cool in this hot weather that we are having

:( I don't know what to do they sent the email with the info for the judges exam today she is the only dog down to do an Intermediate routine for both classes I will have about 25 min between them - DWD before HTM but the killer is she will be 12 days post her second injection (I gather she only needs to be rested a few days) and I can go back to leash walking her but it still seems a long way from "trialling her" and its all still up in the air. Her shoulder still has a long way to go - she can't manage a swim yet without being sore. I know she could do it fine I just don't know what the consequence will be. Is it a case of having to give up something now to ensure she is 100% long term. Grrrrrrr I feel bad they do sound like they are counting on her. Edited by ness
