Congrats Maree, and others. A nice broad selection of dogs and music in that list!

We'll be entered in both Novice styles for the Sydney comp in March

Ohhh good luck what routine are you doing??

Here is a link to the article that got put in the Toowoomba Chronicle. They have misinterpreted several things Sharon has said but it's still good PR for DWD, and I love the photo of me and Chook :D

That is a lovely pic of you and Chook, even if the article is a bit patronising!

We'll be trying to refine our freestyle to Village People - "You Can't Stop The Music" and if all goes to plan, our new HTM to a fun piece from the Aladdin Musical.

I've been thinking of using Elvis' Viva Las Vegas for a routine - and I have a 'showgirl' style costume that would show my tummy and quite a bit of leg - do people think this would be allowed within the rules? It's not vulgar but I'm not sure if it would offend.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and enter the 31 March trial to force us into training  We'll be doing a 1 min 10 sec freestyle routine, not sure if I feel comfortable doing HTM just yet - though today's workshop was very useful.

Just need to get a consistent bow going, but I think we can do everything else in the choreography I have in my head

I'll try and get a video up for everyone to critique :)

When do entries open?? I think I will jump in for both depending on how Abby picks up a third position for HTM.

Now for music  I have been looking alllllll week and still nothing!

We had our first competition of the year up here in QLD yesterday. Toowoomba Dog Obedience club ran the competition for us. Toowoomba is located approx 2hrs west of Brisbane so it was a far drive for us all, but well worth going. It was a lovely venue and a well run trial, thanks Toowoomba Dog Obedience Club.

The results are from the K9freesstye forum for you all to see.

My boys did very well, Chook 1st in HTM Novice and Styler 3rd in HTM Novice and 3rd in Freestyle starters and all quallies. So I am one very happy girl today :D

Got to love the Village People for their songs :) so catchy and easy to work routines to. Can I ask which piece of music you are going to do from Aladdin?

I know what you mean about the music Junabaar. I still haven't decided what song to use for my freestyle novice routine. HTM novice routine is nearly completed

Jumabarr, have you checked out that music database I posted earlier? I find that really good for inspiration, I usually start out at a BPM that I know is a comfortable pace for my dog, and check out the tunes a beat or two either side, and just make a list of everything that appeals to me. Then I narrow the list down to a few songs I really like, and video my dog and I playing around to the music. I then try and choose the music my dogs looks best with.

Kallistar, it's a piece called "Call Me A Princess" I really wanted to use "Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret, but I think I'll save it for when I'm really certain that I can make best use of all the great pace changes!

Don't forget, you can always change the BPM slightly, add bits, slow some bits down or quicken them up all with Audacity  .

Audacity is a DWD competitors dream tool for bastardizing original tracks into whatever cleverly constructed form they might otherwise require .

I've had a look at a few Audacity sites & I don't know which one to use. I have windows 7 & apparently need beta, but how  do I go from there?

Ok need some advice.. John Farnham's You're the Voice has the line - looking down the barrel of a gun.. would the judges take offence to that line? Am trying different songs of John's to my routine to.

My novice HTM is coming along nicely and Tux is learning some new spins as we will not be doing leg weaves. Learning to handle our prop( flowers) has been interesting cause if I don't change hands with them it throws Tux out for his heeling positions.
