Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an off lead area in Melbourne to train my dog in recall. Anyone know of any (preferably fenced) areas that are any good?

I live in the North so hopefully somewhere not too far away!

Thanks!

There is a fenced off lead park in North Melbourne (near Lost Dogs Home) and also another in Footscray. But don't know how good they will be to teach recall as they are often very busy. To be honest I don't find much of Melbourne to be well serviced with off lead areas that are safe (ie. away from traffic, some sort of barrier to "distracting" things, etc) but see if you can find a local park with fenced cricket nets they often do well to provide a safer location for this type of training.

Hi..depending on how North you are... there's a huge off leash park in Coburg..not sure of the street name - it's next to Visy on the road behind Bunnings. There's an old velodrome in it which is fenced off and there's plenty of room for a few dogs to run amok and it's not somewhere people would take their kids to so no issues with things like that! There's a small carpark out the front and it's a fairly quiet area at the weekend (next to a few panel beaters etc)..

Not quite sure how far you are willing to travel and where you are travelling from but if you want to head east...

There is a new park "aranga reserve" which is a fully fenced offlead dog park. There is still some agility equipment construction going on here and there but all fencing is now complete.

It is just off of Springvale road near the Manningham/Donvale indoor sports complex. Just off the eastern freeway.

It hasnt officially opened so is still very quiet and I am yet to see anyone else there.
