BC Love
Just wondering if anyone knows of some bush walking trails (or even good quiet paddock areas) that are dog friendly in the Illawarra/Wollongong area? Would like to try something different than the dog beach all the time
corvus
Good question. We are in the Sutherland Shire and do a lot of bush walking on the fire trails around here. We were wondering just last week if there were any good bush walks to do with dogs around Wollongong. We generally jump on Google Maps and look for fire trails on the satellite pictures, then figure out a route to walk and off we go. On a regular basis, we end up losing the trail we wanted or finding out it's inaccessible from one end, so we usually end up getting a bit creative about paths. LisaJ
There are a few good walks in the escarpment between Bulli pass and Mt Ousley. This is also a popular area for off road bike riders, the motorised bikes you can hear long before they are close to you, the push bike riders you don't know about until they are right on your back. Lots of wallabys, echidnas and deer in the escarpment, I have also seen some goats there. Oh and of course ticks, so tick prevention for your dog is a must.
