Guest lavendergirl
Does anyone know if aloe vera or paw paw ointment is OK to use on dogs? Just a slight rash - I am taking him to the vet on the weekend but wonder if there is a natural ointment of some sort I could use in the meantime? SoL
the only problem you'll have is them licking it off - pawpaw ointment doesn't present too much of a problem as it's just pawpaw. I've used this and also bepanthen in times of dire need - they work well
Jumabaar
I would probably use paw paw over aloe vera although the dogs do enjoy licking it I have found that they do leave a layer of it on the skin, regardless of them licking at it. You could also try an oatmeal compress if the dog is itchy or irritated by the rash. Edited August 19, 2011 by ~Woofen~
BCPuppy
I have used paw paw on sore pads and a on kelpie that is allways taking skin off with great success, yes they do lick it off but it seems to work
Guest lavendergirl
Thanks - I will try the paw paw ointment I think. Its just a red mark of some kind - only noticed it when he returned from the groomers so I don't know if they caused it somehow or it was there before and I can only now see it. He is licking at it a fair bit so I think it is a bit irritating.
Guest lavendergirl
The vet thinks it is an abrasion from the clippers . The paw paw is working well though.
