Brennan's Mum
I do say but I have had enough so many people say it try don't use any tact at all thy could say " how old is the little one" and go from there start a friendly conversation but no its " hey you? Is he vaccinated" I just find it so rude? That why I lost it was sick of being polite to thos rude people who really had not right to ask that? If you have issues with people being rude, why do you think a very rude response is OK? Sorry but I think you're over reacting. They are concerned about your puppy, even if you think they should mind their own business. This Well said Poodlefan
raz
Wow. What a great ambassador for dog ownership you are. I was just thinking the exact same thing raz...there was no need to be so rude to the lady, I'm sure she was just being concerned for the health of your puppy. Yes, BM. It's a great opportunity to turn around and talk to people about pet ownership but I question why this person gets stopped so often and asked if the pup is vax'd. sounds like total bullshit to me - either that or the puppy is just too young to be out. Why else would people keep asking?

Maybe the dog owner was just having a bad day.
Atanquin
I had said that I felt bad about saying that? That's why I came on here to say that I had felt bad I never swear? I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing? you are All just as bad as me for your comments? I will be off this sight from now on I had just felt bad and need to talk to some about it but then I get abused? All I wanted was a chat about it and who ever it was that sent me a message saying I should give my dog to a shelter as I'm a bad owner for one bad thing I had said? Get a life! I'm sorry if it offended people I feel even worse now more so than when I came back from my walk! I was going to apologize to the lady but I was shocked and just kept walking! Like I said some of you are just as bad if not worse than me!! Some of you had a good point I know I was wrong and like I said before that's why I came on here good bye

Maybe the dog owner was just having a bad day. No matter how bad a day I am having I wouldn't say that- so I don't think having a bad day is an excuse for using such language (and I don't think people should be offering that up as an excuse either)!!! Yes it was wrong of you to talk like that. I have asked people in the past if their pup is vaccinated and the answer has been no (and not only once either)!! So with a little advice said pups have been taken to the vet where they have also received other valuable advice. So in future just think that by answering nicely that person will continue to ask if other pups have been vaccinated and you may indirectly save a pup from getting sick. If you behave like you did today that cycle will stop and other people with pups that do need education will not receive it. Thats just my opinion, I will continue to ask because I am genuinely interested for the dogs sake. Edited August 17, 2011 by ~Woofen~

Clyde
you are All just as bad as me for your comments? Errr no. I am not, I would not ever talk to someone like that. I am sorry you've been maliciously PM'd though, I don't know why people do that. It's cowardly and whoever sent it should have been prepared to state their opinion publicly. Ignore it. Skitch
I have no words. I feel really sorry for that lady, she didn't deserve that. Part me really hopes that you are embellishing the truth and didn't react quite so badly and with such foul language. In short, yes I think you were very, very wrong to say something like that to someone expressing concern about your animal. How was this particular woman to know that you had been pestered about your pups vaccination status prior?

That doesn't make the posters 'as bad as you'... I haven't seen anyone telling you to eff off?? Yes, the person who said you should give up your dog is wrong but you've completely overreacted, to the lady at the beach and in this thread... I also can't see where anyone is abusing you either?? corvus
Ten Hail Marys and say nothing but "Yes, thank you" to well-meaning passers-by on the beach for a week. This WAS a confession, wasn't it?

Lady Flying Furball
Obviously it is driving you crazy at the moment so maybe have a break for a few days to regroup. Why don't you take a photocopy of your vaccination and just show it when someone asks...say something about it happening so much you decided to carry proof with you Look, obviously you feel bad about it and snapping back hasn't helped but understand people are concerned about your pup and there are a lot of folks who might not be vaccine aware or care about pet health. On days when you are feeling like you've had it, just go somewhere quiet and just EXPECT to be asked if people are around so that you are ready. Is your pup really babyish looking?? Can we see a piccy :D

Of course Most posters where going to say you where rude...I also disagree with you saying that everyone's comments to you are just as bad, I don't recall anyone in this thread swearing at you. I don't think it was right for anyone to PM you to tell you to give up your dog...just because you are rude to someone doesn't mean you are a bad dog owner. stormie
I think it was a bit wrong. That lady had no idea that you had been asked several times and also wasn't to know that you were aware of the risks of taking young pups out who haven't got full immunity. Perhaps she herself didn't know about diseases at one time or another and lost a pup herself and wanted to warn others? Personally I would have thanked her and advised her that the pup was old enough to have had the appropriate vaccines and was therefore safe to be out and about. I get the horse/saddle etc comments almost every day about Orbit. Yes, it's annoying, but the people who are saying them have no idea I've heard them before and really are just being friendly, so I do the little laugh just to humour them and on our separate ways we go! tlc
I do think your comments were an over reaction however I know it can be frustrating, but sometimes you just have to hold your tounge, grin and bare it as they say! I have come across people, young adults at the beach (dog beach) with tiny new puppies and have no idea about vaccinating times etc. Out of concern for the puppies i will quite often strike up conversation with the owners, ive never been abused thankgoodness!! The vet told us that parvo can live in the sand for as long as it can live in dirt and the beach is an area where there can be high incidents of parvo as lots of people don't pick up their dog pooh and just cover it over I do get tired of comments from people but would never react in such a manner as you did. Continuous comments I get, * 4 dogs you must be a breeder. * gee you have your hand full..... This one is my pet hate. * wow they must cost you a fortune to feed. * it must be hard finding the time to care for all those dogs. Never! * Gee I would hate to have your vet bill. :D * various nasty crossbreed comments. very used to that!! On the other side of the coin, there is lots of lovely people out there who only have nice things to say to a person walking thief dog/dogs, and I find the good out weigh the bad. Atanquin
I was referring to the PM I had tell me to give my dog to a rescue group that's why I post that last comment about being worse than me! Really was that needed. I had already had 4 people stop and ask if he was vacc but I had caught someone trying to ride my horse in his paddock that rent I think that's what started it they where riding him with out a helmet I ran over but they ran off and then I had to deal with the police ( I rang them as I was concerned ) I should have gone home but I thought a walk would do me good then when that lady ran over to me like there was an emergency of something terrible had happened and only to ask then u lost it to much in one day
