But anyone else have this problem? poodlefan
Ummm - over reaction? Why don't you just answer "yes, he is, thanks for your concern"?
WreckitWhippet
I would be thinking that the beach is probably one of the safest places to socialise a puppy and walk it.

Dju
Jeez, you didn't need to be nasty because someone expressed concern (out of all things) for your dog What PF said.

Weasels
I would be thinking that the beach is probably one of the safest places to socialise a puppy and walk it. I would think so too, if you walk within the zone where the water is lapping. Ground gets washed regularly, almost impossible to get parvo. Odd that people would immediately assume your pup wasn't vaccinated, unless it's extra tiny? Your reaction does seem a bit harsh as this woman didn't know you'd already been asked a bunch of times. In terms of disease risk, I agree with RSG. I suppose it would depend on if it was a dog beach or not. Personally I find beaches quite dangerous- you get all sorts of idiots who just let their dogs run wild becuase its a beach... not a good place for socializing a puppy. Brennan's Mum
I can see how it'd get annoying for you to be asked a few times. I'd just say ''Yes, he is thank you'' . I don't think people mean any harm, the lady you saw today had no idea of knowing how often you get asked that question. There are always going to be people who want to stop you on your walk with a dog- breed fanciers, people asking what breed it is, people who want to tell you that they once had a dog of the same breed, people who want to know where you got your dog, people who want to give you advice on training etc. Most of them I just reply politely and walk on. If you have issues with people being rude, why do you think a very rude response is OK? Sorry but I think you're over reacting. They are concerned about your puppy, even if you think they should mind their own business.

Lots of salt, wind , sand , breeze and water... makes for less chance of disease Providing dogs are allowed on the beach, I really can't think of anywhere better

Baileys mum
Wow. What a great ambassador for dog ownership you are. I was just thinking the exact same thing raz...there was no need to be so rude to the lady, I'm sure she was just being concerned for the health of your puppy. Not to mention unnecessary, vulgar and incredibly offensive. What's wrong with biting your tongue and singing out in a cheery voice " it's alright, he's older than he looks and full vaccinated'' and keep walking - is that really so hard? I've had certain breeds where I get the same comment 100 times over, it can get annoying but people are only trying to think of the dogs welfare or be friendly. I feel sorry for that poor woman who is probably quite shaken by being sworn at so aggressively. Edited August 17, 2011 by Clyde
