Atanquin
Hi all I'm a but worried about zorro he is the best when it come to meet people love's everyone and everyone loves him, but he get scared meeting new dogs once he has meet them and been near trm then he is fine and try's to play but other wise he will hide behind me and then when a dog walks of he wil give a little bark and growl he has a dog friend which is a German Shepard cross and like I said is fine once he has stood there for a bit and got use to the idea of another dog do you think this is just him being a puppy I don't see it bein a problem as he is not at all aggressive but I would like him to be more confident or am I reading to much into this? best4koda
Sounds like he is scared a little or putting a front on. Perhaps some more socialisation with similar aged pups and size will help him get over it. Also make sure all other pups/dogs are nice meeter and greaters so he doesn't have a bad experience while young and impressionable so to speak. I know a friend who's young pup had a bad experience and it's taken along time to get him over his fear of others. So some nice positive re-enforcement should help, he is only little. stonecutter
Are you going to puppy pre-school? Ziva is fearless when it comes to meeting new dogs - but some pups who were a bit timid, after the 4-6 weeks were quite confident in meeting adult dogs. shelleys_email
Paddy is a bit the same, he embarrassed me at his first obedience lesson yesterday - started barking and squealing and trying to hide when he saw all those people and then their dogs! He settled down within a few minutes though. I guess I haven't done a very good job socialising him so far I'm planning on getting him out a bit more to meet some more people before next week so hopefully he wont do it again! Atanquin
He skipped puppy school and went straight to obedience he was sto smart for puppy school so now I think about it that might be the problem he didn't get to Play with other pups so altho he was meeting dog he was learning to play I might take him 1 hr before his class starts when puppy school is on so he can maybe play with the others I will ask the lady if that's okay thanks guys
best4koda
That sounds like a good idea. We had an older pup at puppy school come just to mingle with the younger ones as additional socialisation. You could possible do more of it at obedience as well. We hang around before and after for the dogs to stand around learning to great and meet calmly.
