Dogs I've Noticed More....since Coming On Dol

Just a fun thread. I am curious to know if other DOLers have found they notice certain breeds more since being on DOL. Doesn't necessarily have to mean you want to own that breed, it can just be a breed that you are more adept at identifying since joining DOL, or one that you have more of an interest in.

For me the breeds which I have noticed more are;

Finnish Lapphund (admittedly pre- DOL I had not heard of them and would have thought one to be a Husky cross type dog).

German Shorthaired Pointers- have more of an interest in them since DOL.

Border Terriers-- I first saw one in a movie 3 years ago..and thanks to the movie and DOL I am now more adept at recognising one. I think they are spunky little dogs :).

None of these dogs are one I'd consider owning, but I still have an interest in them and can identify them more easily.

DOL has made me look out for the Finnish Lapphund....& also the Swedish (Vallhound?). I haven't seen any yet, but would like to, in real life. The DOL owners have described them so well....& enthusiastically.

Also I've loved looking at the Australian Shepherds that DOLers have posted about...& described. And I was delighted to see 2 gorgeous specimens in a car outside a pet supplies store.

The first Border Terrier I saw was one who jumped into our neighbour's car in the driveway. He was lost & after being taken to the vet (& then the pound)....the vet adopted him when he wasn't claimed. Smart little dog!

Recently, I saw another Border Terrier at a doggie event. The owners were chuffed when we recognised his breed. They said that strangers rarely did.

Lets just say, I have become much more careful at not assuming crossbreeds when I see an unusual dog these days. ;)

I once made the mistake of asking a woman with a Flatcoat Retriever if it was a GR cross! :eek:

I had wondered if it was, but assumed it couldnt be because they aren't very common. :laugh:

Wheatens I have discovered are quite popular in my area (I have seen 3 at least!), a stunning breed I would never have recognised before.

:D :grouphug:

I've always been a dog nerd. Well, let's be honest, not just dogs. I almost stopped an experiment yesterday so I could run into the yard and check what the heck was making that crazy sound in the tree above the house. Still a mystery. But maybe I pay a little more attention to some of the gundogs, like Labradors and tollers. I would never own a gundog, but I often try to see what draws people to them. Also the working breeds like Malinois and GSD. Never met a Malinois. Have a laugh every time someone describes how they are so different. Sounds familiar. Glance at Erik. E, are you a mini Mal? :rofl:
