Perry's Mum
Two friends have Golden Retrievers who are 18 and 19 respectively. A man who walks his old Jack Russell near here told me it was at least 20.

sandgrubber
I only wish that the 20 year lifespan was the norm, not the exception. We could breed for longevity if we had anything to go by. Why doesn't the Pedigree keep track of deaths as well as births? I know it's hard. But I'd love, when choosing what dog to use, or what pup to buy, to be able to look back through the grands and great-grands and see whether the lineage was long lived or short lived. It really pissed me off to realise that the Canine Assn' has thousands upon thousands of dead dogs on their books and doesn't seem to care. edited immediately to fix oversight. gillybob
I love all my oldster boys. They wonder around and seem to enjoy life. Its funny to watch Bob and Blake walk away from me, they both have bandy old man back legs. They get great enjoyment from watching the horses and cattle next door, albeit from a comphy spot in the sun. I know I will loose the two oldest sooner more than later. Tokkie
My little x bred girl died at 17, we got her a month before we got married. In the photo she was 15 and still a beautiful girl.
