As in I wouldn't do it without a proper transport company helping me. I appreciate the help! Really I do! :o
lovemesideways
4. I am bringing in (or taking out my pet from) to Shanghai. Moving companies seem to be very expensive. Can I do this on my own instead? You can do this on your own, but we don’t recommend it. There is paperwork, bureaucracy and connections on both ends of a move that most individuals do not know how to make work smoothly. A mistake, or creating a disgruntled customs official, can result in your pet sitting extra days in unknown surroundings (and you possibly not being allowed to see the animal). We always advise using a professional pet moving company that is well experienced and well connected at all levels on how to make a move for your pet as painless as possible. For more information on bringing your pet to China or advice on proffesional services please contact: [email protected] From what you said here. When I spoke to Dogtainer, whilst being very helpful about everything they have said that the second the plane hits Chinese soil its no longer their responsibility and they basically have nothing to do with it on that end. They can however contact a local agent and then you work togethor from there. Im not sure if that would be better than using a company based in China? (worried that they will be dodgy on this end!) in (or taking out my pet from) to Shanghai. Moving companies seem to be very expensive. Can I do this on my own instead? yes you can. When are you planning on going? If it in sync with one of mine, I can help you with the bits and pieces. Just send me a PM or email and we can go from there. Nothing can happen dodgey from the Australian end as AQIS oversee anything that leaves Australia anyway. There is actually very little the transport companies do ex Australia, apart from act as a go between for AQIS and the exporter. So dont worry about leaving Australia, that never is a problem. Misquoted here. Hopefully that explains it
Greytmate
The smart thing would be to contact a shipping agent like Jet Pets or Dogtaines as they are professionals in this field. Everything else is just hearsay or guessing. No it's not hearsay and it's not guessing Jet Pets, Dogtainers and their Oz staff don't know and do not have the access of a local agent. China is one of the countries where the Australian way is a hindrance not a help. Go local, stick with the can-do know how Yes they do. JetPets have an affiliate agency in China that they deal with for dogs travelling into China. I have dealt with JetPets a lot and they deal with their Chinese contacts a lot. It's easier and safer to get a company like JetPets to arrange the travel from here. Do you have a actual contact you could name for me so that I can speak to them directly? The lady I used to deal with has left, so I suggest you talk to Jason Brown. Jetpets have been sending a lot of dogs to China for a long time, so it is worth you giving them a call and finding out what they say. I've never sent a dog there, but did get a quote once and it was complicated and expensive compared to sending a dog to Hong Kong or Japan. poocow
As I've told you before PLEASE use a transport company here to do the legwork with AQIS for all your paperwork and they will set you up with an agent over in China, you have already received contacts for that too. Not sure who in AQIS would have told you rabies could be done a week before, that is incorrect. It is always recommended to do it at least 21 days prior when traveling to a rabies affected country. The conditions are as follows a vaccination at least 14 days to 1 year prior to travel for - - C3 - Rabies A vet inspection within 24 hours prior to departure This is for someone traveling pax on board. To send a dog unaccompanied is a giant pain in the arse and I would not recommend it to anyone.
