Nalaridge
Hi, My 8 month old Ridgeback's nose is changing colour. Now I know you can get Ridgebacks with either black or brown noses, but those with dark muzzles tend to black. I selected a pup with a dark muzzle and a dark nose, but recently I noticed her nose has turned brown and it's not dirt, even though she digs occasionally LOL. Anyway I'm not alarmed or anything but I was wondering if this is normal or what do it mean? Any other owners experienced this? Thanks!
Fatsofatsoman
uneducated guess of snow nose - winter lightening the pigment. Will return in summer.
oakway
uneducated guess of snow nose - winter lightening the pigment. Will return in summer. Yes my first thought to. I refer to it as winter nose. I have an Italian Greyhound whose nose lighterns every winter. It gets darker in the summer months.
experiencedfun
yes, weather related. If you are bothered by it you could try giving some kelp in her dinner
Crazy Daisy
It should darken up in the warmer months. I think I read in the last thread on here that it has something to do with less sun in the winter months. My retrievers went dark for a couple of months but is getting better now. jakeyjangels
I started a thread on this for my Lab a couple of weeks ago. Not sure on how to add a link, but maybe you can find it ? I was satisfied from all the comments, that it is winter nose & nothing to worry about
moosepup
I thought Moose had winter nose when his nose went brown when he was around 6 months old but it's never returned to black.
