Elbow Orthoscopic Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi , just wanting to know if any one has had success with investigative orthoscope on front elbow of small dogs to see why they have constant limp ( its usually a large dog problem ) we have a 1 1/2 year Boston old whose had x-rays that didn,t show anything and now have been advised to do the orthoscope procedure to see whats happening in the elbow ,its been a on and off problem for months now, shes had courses of cartrophen and is on sashas blend etc but wondering if anyone has any info this, if their dogs after this procedure (depending what they find i guess too ) still limped or had arthritis symptoms .

One of my Staffy's had a limp on and off when she was 8 months old. I took her to the vet, but because she was excited she didnt show any signs. After a couple of visits I asked for an x-ray, which didnt show anything.

I was eventually referred to a speacialist who had better equipment, an x-ray clearly showed a bone fragment in her elbow which was operated on and removed.

Although my situation is not exactly the same, just pointing out how x-rays may not be definitive. Because it took us a couple of months to pick up the problem my girl now suffers from arthritis.

Hi, yes our lillys limp has been on and off for quite a few months ,in the middle of this she went in the Paws walk and was absolutely fine with no limp weeks before or after so its frustrating that it comes and goes. Also she was excited at the vet so i videoed her at home to help show him the extent that she was limping at home when calm,i have been concerned about the amount of time its been and whether that will make her susceptable to constant arthritis so its been interesting to hear your experiemce with it, thanks :)
