Guest english.ivy
It's natural for dogs to do it and it just seems foul to humans. You'll find a lot of dogs do it. My Belgian does. I gave up caring as I can't be out there 24/7 picking up poo.
Bjelkier
It a condition called Coprophagia, some dogs have it, others don't. The best way to stop it is to clean the area right away so the dog has no access to it's feaces. Another way to stop it is to add pineapple to the dogs diet. There could also be something missing from the dogs diet, what are you feeding her? Edited July 17, 2011 by Bjelkier
BC Crazy
My 8 month old BC still does it & has pretty much always done it. I have tried pineapple (fresh) in her food made no difference. I just watch her & pick it up as soon as she eliminates. She just goes to the toilet & straight away turns around & eats it sometimes so I have to be very quick. Thats all I can do. Had her to the vets,he said she has a very good diet & is very healthy & fit. I am hoping she grows out of this aweful habit. I have another BC & she doesn't touch his, just her own. Ali
You can correct it it by leashing her when she goes and as sson as she turns around to eat it call her and give her a tug on the leash as soon as she looks at you reward her and praise her, doing this enough, after she eliminiates she will look straight at you for a reward. If you cant supervise all day, and want to eliminate it get an appropriate sized dog run/crate and put her in it when she isnt being supervised. Generally the dog wont shit in its "den" so when ever you let her out she will probably need to go. and you can supervise.

LOL but she has improved heaps since I have taught her 'leave it' she does it seldom now. She turns around to do it, then thinks about it & doesn't, which is good.Just mainly when I am out & not their to watch her, which isn't very often. Thats great!, I would still be calling her just as she goes to look at it, dtry and eliminate the thought from her mind completely. but "seldom" is pretty good
