I Did It!

Hey guys!

I have been using a great little point and shoot Panasonic Lumix FZ7 for almost 2 years now, but love photography and have always wanted a DSLR, even though I know so little about them and how to get the best out of them.

So I have been doing a little research on what sort of camera I would want.. I wanted to take some portrait and landscape shots, but wanted a camera which could do sports photography (mostly horses) and today I came home with the Nikon D7000 with the 18 - 105mm VR lens!

I am so excited to have a play with it, and also really excited that I will now have this camera when my puppy comes home and can get some great shots hopefully!

I will be playing around with it now, trying to learn the ins and outs of this DSLR.

I hope I have chosen a good camera to go on with and really think this will last me quite some time in my photographic life! But I would appreciate links to any useful websites people may have where I can learn more about using this awesome camera. :D

woo hoo! it's exciting isn't it. I dont know Nikon but I'm sure you will get some fabulous shots from it. There are a few Nikonians here that will be able to give you advice. Congratulations, I've found my camera is almost like a diary of my life these days. I take it with me almost always, when I go somewhere, well, not supermarket shopping but most other places.

I am definately having a great time so far, but been working late so only getting to play with the flash inside my room (not very exciting!).

Will hopefully get some better shots friday on my day off.

I think I will be purchasing a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 soon, as I would love to be able to create the lovely Bokeh that people seem to be able to create with the shallow depth of field.

Although I havn't had alot of time to play so far, I think a longer range zoom and the 1.4 or 1.8 is in my relatively short future!
