Tilly
Our older boy is on low doses of Meloxicam (oral suspension) for degenerative arthritis ... the problem we have is getting a regular supply form our vet. We order it from the vet but it never arrives when it is supposed to and regularly takes multiply calls etc to actually get it and it is usually after our existing supply is gone. And then of course the vet is closed between 12noon and 4pm - which is the only times my brother can get into the vets to collect it. So if I can't collect it on a Saturday morning then it is another week before I can pick it up or I have to take time off work. I was thinking about ordering it online and having it delivered to me at work ... but as it is a prescription only drug - can I order it online? Guest Ams
It is prescription only so has to be purchased from a vet. Maybe order two bottles at once and then order the replacement when you open the second bottle.
Tilly
Bugger ... I suspected as much The annoying thing is they won't give us two bottles ... then they wait 3 weeks to order it - the dose he is on means the supply will last 31 days. It is the week between when they order it and when we need it that it becomes a problem - the stuff they order doesn't always arrive when it is supposed too ... and I don't want or need a grumpy, sore and very unhappy dog at home if the order is late again. Might need to have a serious chat with the vet as it just isn't working this way - I don't want to have a referee fights at home because Mr Grumpy Bum is in pain. fifi
Have you tried another vet ? your vet can do a script for you to take to another more conveniently open practice. fifi
karly101
Alternatively ask for a script and find a clinic that always keeps it in stock. But I would probably have a word with the head vet, most clinics I've been at have a regular ordering system and as long as the supplier has it and the order is placed before 11am, it comes in that day. If they are having supply issues I could understand it but to consistantly not get your pets regular medication is a pain and shouldn't really happen. Perhaps suggest 2 bottles as a viable alternative as to have your order constantly stuffed around isn't very good.

Staff'n'Toller
Are you in metro Brisbane? We are a small clinic but have it on shelf all the time, in all sizes. It comes in 100ml bottle and tablets now- if that helps. We can get things next day very easily, can't understand why they are stuffing you around. Edenblue
Find another vet. Our clinic orders daily, I can't recall meloxicam ever being placed on backorder due to supply issues?? We always stock it, but even if a special order were necessary, it would be available the next working day.
Guest Ams
Um Tilly I don't have the energy for your BRAT. He is gorgeous but I like my couch potato dogs. :D
Everythings Shiny
Only once did we have supply issues at my other workplace, I think it was on back order for three days due to weather preventing a truck getting to our supplier. I'd be changing vet if they stuffed me around like that.
