jerojath
Try these guys HERE. They do Melbourne to Adelaide every 2nd day and I am pretty sure they go through Ballarat or nearby. I have used them between Adelaide and Victoria and it was under $100 I think. Service was brilliant too. Because my bitch was a "bit of a softy" they let her ride in the car with them instead of in the trailer with the "noisy dogs".
lappiemum
Wayrod is very very good. I used him for my interstate flights - its not just cost, but knowing that things are being sorted and that someone is ensuring that all is ok. I would recommend that you PM him for info ;)
Sayreovi
We had considered this, but the puppy won't be have full immunity from its six week vaccinations and i'm loathe to set it down on the ground enroute to do its business every hour or so. Am i being overly protective about vaccination immunity? I did the Melbourne to Adelaide trip to pick up my recent puppy, we of course had to stop several times for her to relieve herself and we were just careful about where. Be protective but not overly so that it's detrimental to the puppies socialisation. If you would not feel safe about vaccinations to drive then I'd hardly recommend putting it on a flight with however many unknown dogs that you have no idea whether they have been vacccinated or what diseases they may carry. Yup, this was the reason why I drove over rather than fly her. Just a personal reason really, there are heaps of puppies being flown without a problem but I wasn't taking that risk no matter how small that she happens to be on the same flight as a dog with a disease/illness. It would just be my luck
Pudel
We pioked up our puppy today, and he had a couple of toilet stops, during our 3.25 hour trip. We chose not to stop in town, or at parks, but the side of the road theoretically should be safe (he was on a leash) disease wise. Know it is not 100%, but the chances of a puppy with parvo being there is less than at a public park or a suburban area. That was my belief anyway. Our current dog had a 3+ hour trip home also, and we used the same rules with her.
