Skye2
Hi, i have just started showing dogs and am interested in buying an all round grooming book. I have a short coated dog so not much grooming required for them.I would like something that talks about clipping, the difference in blade sizes etc, stripping coats. I am not a groomer but just walk around the shows amazed at all the grooming that goes into different breeds and so out of my own curiosity i would like to get a book that explains different techniques. One day i aspire to have a standard poodle....setting my sights high i know. So i would be pleased if anyone has any ideas on a good book to purchase, I looked on Clipper World website and there are quite a few but unsure where to start. Thank you in advance. Guest DBT
Personally i don't think you could go past 'Notes From The Grooming Table'

becks
If there are particular breeds you are interested in, I find breed clubs often have cheap booklets on how to groom the breed correctly and the detail is a lot better then in 'general how to groom A-Z breed books'
Zug Zug
For poodle grooming, you can't go past the Shirlee Kalstone book called 'Poodle clipping and grooming'. So if you do end up heading in that direction one day, that book is a must. But it only covers poodles, so is probably not what you are after right now. Skye2
Thanks for that guys. I really am interested in something that talks about what different scissors are used for, grooming techniques, ie plucking or rolling coats. Also clipper blades and what uses they have. I borrowed a couple of books and they talk about such things in grooming like, for a daschund, clean ears, clip nails etc not really want i am after more things on techniques people use. I ordered one book online. I find it all very interesting, I have always shown horses and love prepping them so thought i should get myself a little educated on how to prepare different dog coats. No wanting to be a groomer or anything (i am just a boring secretary),just intrigued about the different techniques and enjoying asking people what they do to achieve the finished product. I questioned a poor schnauzer exhibitor last week but thankfully she was very informative and didn't mind answering all my questions.
becks
There are plenty of groomers and exhibitors here who can answer those questions!
