I enjoyed myself so much last month I went back again yesterday, besides I had to retrieve my good lens case that I'd left behind.

Here are a few highlights.

I wish I could manage to get pics of my own dogs as sharp as this but somehow it never seems to happen.

This dog won but was disqualified because his owner forgot to muzzle him.

My own tiny Feather at 9 years old returned as a guest competitor. She was soundly beaten by a much younger much bigger male, but neither she nor I cared, look how happy she is. :D 5851175266_e1bcd6d312_z.jpg

a great big burly bloke in a tender moment.

I saw Salukis run for the first time. This beautiful dog was imported from Bahrain 5849814791_7ede3009a3_z.jpg

Fab pics! That saluki looks familiar, and gorgeous too :-)

I loved the imported boy. They both seemed heavier set than I remember Salukis but then I've only ever seen a few and that was years ago. They are very independent willful dogs by the looks of them. Once they'd run the course they both jumped the rail and ran around inside the track. They were in no hurry to be caught. The way she got them the second time they ran was to get the lure driver to keep them running around it twice to tire them out, they still didn't look very tired, I get the impression they could run for miles.

Yep! That's Al Muzdaher Farousi Razeel, or Razz, to his friends. My Mabby's brother.

 she rattled off his name and I just said I'll take your word for it. I loved him though, I'll post some more pics later. I think she said 4 were imported is that right? Was it you who was flown to Bahrain to whelp the bitch?

Typical Salukis! LOL. I imagine they could've run until everyone else got bored and went home :-) they're the original endurance hounds. One of the DOLers on here owns a litter mate to the Bahraini boy (I think), so could probably tell you more about desert bred salukis if she sees this post :-)

Kirislin I love watching whippets run just at a dog off-leash park - its so wonderful to see them go so incredibly fast - they obviously love it so. Your photos are so beautiful & clear, if you don't mind telling, I'd love to know the camera (and lens) you use.

hahaha it's no secret, I bought it specifically so I could take action pics of whippets. I am obsessed! I've got the Canon 7d and that lens is the 70-200 2.8 IS.

No not me. These Salukis came here through Mandy Manley-Smith in WA. And yes, there are 4. Two in WA, one in NSW with me and Razzie.

Feathers sprint race, she took off like a rocket but the male got onto the inside and caught her in the last 15 metres or so.

He reminds me of a soccer hooligan here.

and those naughty salukis, not sure where the lure was here, he might have been chasing it or he might have just been taking himself for a gallop

Pretty impressive seeing them run though.
