mr.mister
I had been following your other thread and was sad too to hear you were going to rehome him - the first week/s are always difficult! So so glad things worked out.
Alkhe
Oh yay, congratulations!! So glad things have worked out for you - he's such a beautiful little thing, too! He looks like a little teddy, and his colouring.. just like the teddy bear biscuits I've been eating all evening Little poodles are the best, I have no idea how I lived before I got my little girl. I think things will get much easier now that you've made a definite decision too; whenever there's still uncertainty, it makes everything so much harder to deal with, I think. Now that he's yours forever you can relax a bit more

Sooky
I was one of the people one your other thread that agreed with the people saying it would probably be better to give him up. I would just like to say now after reading this post how wrong I was! I think you are going to be a fantastic owner to Harper and I'm really glad you've got each other. Well done for making the right decision despite what the majority of people on your other thread advised One other thing - more pics please he's so cute

Guest HarperGD
Thanks everyone! I took him into work this afternoon to meet everyone. He's good at letting people cuddle him but when I put him down he still hides behind mum's legs like a toddler. It's kinda funny. We're working hard to socialise him to as many people as possible. Here's another pic
Ruftybear
That is the BEST news!! I'm so happy things are working out for you all. Puppies can be a bit of a challenge for a while, until you figure them out, then there's no looking back Actually there's usually bumps along the way.. adolescence being a big one!! Hahahaha ... agreed. Best to not think about it right now though. You don't want to spoil the surprises in store for later on ... ahhhh dogs, they are like the gift that just keeps on giving ... Lady Flying Furball
Wow, good on you. I can only say that I know how you feel/felt in those first days...and I got a 3 year old dog, not a puppy. I live in an apartment and I was a nervous wreck for the first few weeks...about leaving him, him protest barking when I did so etc and I had two weeks break when I first got him. It was a steep learning curve and I have found that regular structure is really good: a walk first thing in the morning and a play/ or training. The walking really made a big difference in terms of bonding and for him then being quite satisfied to be at home inside; obviously a puppy may not be up for those big walks but little ones may tire Harper. It took time too for him to settle but now we live in great harmony Edited June 17, 2011 by FlyingFurball
Guest HarperGD
FlyingFurBall, I can't wait until we can walk him and help him burn off some energy. Especially in the evening - he goes loopy at night, bouncing all over the place :D hahaha. Right now he's hiding in my doona, not sure what he's going under there but I think he might be trying to dig to China... I've started calling him my sheep too cos he kinda looks like one - he's going for a wash and brush at the groomer next week!
dogdogdog
Glad it worked out for you and Harper. Keep up the training. Poodles are bright dogs and need an outlet for their intelligence. So how come I got the dumb one!!! ;)
persephone
he goes loopy at night, bouncing all over the place hahaha. ..you have another 14 years of that :p NOW is a good time to introduce several 5 minute training sessions a day .. and , if you haven't, start getting him used to walking on collar & lead . He can also have short handling sessions (NOT play) where he lies/stands still while you handle every part of him calmly and thoroughly.. his nails/under tail/sheath/inside mouth ... this is an excellent exercise
DogNerd
So glad it's all worked out . My Tillys absolute FAVOURITE thing to do is "help" my mum make the beds... She gets right up there and rolls around digging, snorting. And then hides in the doona :D. good luck... Poodles are crazy :p
