nelsona
My German Shepherd dog (9 yo)who has been scratching was prescribed Antibiotics (Rilexine): and Cortisone (Macrolone) tablets: Rilexine: 2 tablets a day Macrolone: 5 days x 1.5 tabl, 5 days x 1 tablet and for 5 days 0.5 tablets. I misred the instructions and after 10 days stopped giving him the medications for 2 days;I read the instructions again and ralised my mistake. I don't kow know whether I should resume giving him the medication? I would be grateful for some information (My vet is away due to this public holiday) Edited June 13, 2011 by nelsona

I would be grateful for some information (My vet is away due to this public holiday) You are giving antibiotics and corticosteroids at the same time? Is it the first time he has had skin probelms? Yes, I would resume the medication. It is importnant to finish the whole antibiotic course and to taper the steroids.
paplover
I would call your vet and ask just to make sure
Pretty Miss Emma
I'd be starting them up again. But I'd also speak to your vet when you can to let them know that 2 days were missed, it may mean the course needs to be extended/changed (or it may make no difference at all!!). Danois
I would ring the vets and check - you need to taper off cortisone rather than stopping suddenly.
stormie
I would ring the vets and check - you need to taper off cortisone rather than stopping suddenly. This is mostly for when they have been on cortisone long term. If it's just been a short course like the one the OP has mentioned, there shouldn't be any harm in a sudden stop like that. I would resume from where you were up to.
