Gretel
One thing I have always wanted to add to my dog yards is a big concrete pipe covered with a dirt/grass 'hill' so they have something to climb over and sit on top of and something to go through and lie in. The pipe would be lovely and cool in summer. One of the local schools has one of these for the kids to play in. I had thought the dogs would like it :D
Rebanne
I am about to re model my cattery and remove a couple of very large mesh towers. After readign this thread I think I will put shade cloth around them and peg them into the ground length wise to make tunnels for the dogs

jackie_a1
You can install spring poles!!! But probably only if you have a dog more interested in tug or bull breed type. They're real cool but and Ida when can I come :p I want to sit in a sled while your dogs pull me? Sorry to off topic Ida but how much weight can your dogs pull? And do you get the sleds specially made or do you go to a specialist store?

jackie_a1
Is that a tree or a type of moose? If it's the latter can you post to me too. I'm sure the boys would enjoy chasing a giant moose ahaha :p

jackie_a1
I can picture this huge moose making this chewbacca noise like ORRGHEEHJHJDN or however the noise is and the dogs trotting behind him :p I read somewhere a good at home toy for a dog is a chew toy or tug rope soaked in beef, chicken or pork stock over night or even for a few days if possible then you leave it in the backyard and the dogs love it. Haven't tried it myself need to get a sturdy tug toy worthy of Bossington's choppers.

GeckoTree
Many years ago I watched some TV show and on this show was a woman who built a 'Den' in the back yard for her dogs. It was awesome, I think it was a big old short drainpipe or coupling, with a mound of dirt over it, 2 or 3 access points, room enough to get in and sweep it out when needed. So the dogs had a backyard earth berm kennel 'Den', a hilltop top to sing on and be king of the castle with a great vantage point to see everything going on, a couple palm trees to take a leak and a great grassy knoll. Something like that would be fantastic, but I just dont have that passion My dog has a kong a bone a ball and a hammock bed.
Inevitablue
My girl has a giant Fitball, the pilates type. Keeps her amused chasing it around and around the backyard. Keep it well inflated and they can't puncture it

HazyWal
I've been looking at all these lovely things you have in your backyard for your dogs and then look at mine.My greys have turned it into the closest thing to Dapto dog track they'll ever see again in their lives.Honestly I just mowed it this morning and it was like mowing the surface of the moon!List of things I had to pick up before I mowed. various toys half eaten plastic food bowl a couple ofhalf eaten chokoes a bra(wondered where that went) and pretty much half the yellow pages from the phone book that I stupidly left on the floor! idigadog
Sorry to off topic Ida but how much weight can your dogs pull? And do you get the sleds specially made or do you go to a specialist store? I'm not really sure. Atleast 10 times their own weight I would say. I know 6 of them can pull our quad bike with two adults riding and the brakes locked on!!! Our last couple of sleds have been imported. Our current one is a Danler from Austria. Our rigs and scooters are made locally.
