gwp4me
Hi all, sick of waiting for my 8 months old gwp's ordered hip brace to arrive from the US, I created my own in a few hours. It will only be used when taking the dog for a walk on a leash. I bought a step-in-harness, cut my sml size thermal back brace exactly in middle/ in two pieces, rolled/stitched a seam for each leg to the outside, threaded plastic belts (covered with a sleeve made out of nylon bandage to prevent rubbing) through each seam to go around dog's thighs above the knee joints, adjusted them with chicago screws (used for western bridles), used the already attached velcro to connect the two leg braces firmly together on top of dog's hips, pulling towards the front, then connected brace to the harness with spare strap. I have used it for a couple of days now without any signs of rubbing. Edited June 4, 2011 by gwp4me
CavsRcute
I was given a brace that was similar to that to try for my girl who has HD It came from Helen Nicholson who is a canine physiotherapist, but I think it was more suited to a larger dog and we weren't able to use it.
