Herding Fun Day

Recommended Posts

We are hosting a Short Course Trial/Fun Day on 16 October 2011 the details of which are:

Judge: Dave Sharp

Commences: 9.30 am. Please be at the venue NO later than 9.00 am.

Cost: $10.00 per run.

Entries will be taken for Beginner, Novice and Open. All levels use the same course [Course design will be as per Judge’s Instructions].

For those who are not familiar with Short Course format it is similar to an A.N.KC. A course but without the cast or drive.

The Judge will brief competitors on the course requirements and a walk through the course will be conducted for competitors.

This is a FUNDAY - dogs will be graded relative to their experience, and previous events entered or won.

Time to complete each level is generally between 8-12 minutes, this will be decided by the Judge on the day according to level of experience of individual dogs.

With a short course trial a competitor starts with 100 points and points are deducted for e.g. not completing an obstacle. You are allowed to touch your dog but points will be deducted.

Teams event: If we have sufficient entries there will be a teams event. Two years ago we had a very successful “competition”, Border Collies vs Kelpies. The format for this will be decided on the day by the Judge.

Payment may be made on the day but if you are wanting to enter please PM your name, name of dog/s (call names) and level you wish to enter to me no later than 08 October. As this event is “in-house”, your dogs do not have to be registered with any Canine body.

Please note that we carry more than sufficient public liability insurance should anything un-toward happen.

Sounds good, might try to make it, love the short courses, and keen to start Herding in late 2011, not sure how the Kelpies will do as noticed most herding uses dogged sheep and after 3 sheep and yard trialing might be weird to have trained sheep!! But short courses are always fun!! Hope to see you there
