noisymina
Thank you everyone. I have read all your messages. You would have been right Saffyluv. We were thinking fit of some sort. She seemed to come good for a bit but then started to get worse again and that is when I rang the vet and took her straight down. She was in shock so they put her on a drip and gave her meds. At least she had pain relief. Whatever it was, I think her stressing over the storm coming was the final straw. It was going to happen sooner or later, obviously. Yes, I will remember the good times. And try to stop looking around to check on her. You do that with old dogs don't you?
poodlefan
Yes, I will remember the good times. And try to stop looking around to check on her. You do that with old dogs don't you? Not only look for. I swear I saw my old cat at times for a few weeks after he passed.

I swear I saw my old cat at times for a few weeks after he passed. You're lucky, PF. My avatar girl "Kal" (bhcs) didn't 'appear' to me (although I swear I heard her, at times), but she did send me a "Kal fart" (unmistakably distinctive smell, I assure you) in the days after her passing. to you, Noisy. It's tough, even though we know the inevitable will happen, it's still tough.
Ruftybear
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our little girl last Friday and it was quite sudden. I also keep looking out for her, especially since she was blind, and we always checked before we moved. I also had to put two different eye drops in her remaining eye every night (she had glaucoma), and I still go to do that too. It will take some time to get used to her not being there, and I'm sure you're feeling the same way too. Hugs to you and your family
noisymina
Yeh - every so often I "see" a movement out of the corner of my eye and turn because I automatically assume she is there. Was very different coming home today - no Dobe loping around to the other side of the garage ahead of us. She used to think we didn't see her. And then greet us at the other door acting as if she is surprised we are home. Sorry about your girl too Ruftybear. That reminds me - her medications are in the cupboard - and all sorts of stuff is around. Oh - and huge order from Vet-N-pet is in the mail too. Dunno what I'm going to do with that.
Guest Ams
Noisy if you ring Vet n Pet they may accept the goods back when you explain your circumstances and give you a refund. You'd just have to put return to sender on the parcel. I'm sure they too have experienced the loss of an oldie and would understand.
noisymina
Yes, if it doesn't turn up soon. I'll have to call them anyway, so if it hasn't even left, they might keep it. Otherwise, some friends might benefit. There are always rescue people who can use that stuff too. For the dogs, that is.

So sorry to hear about your loss My childhood dog passed away about 6 years ago in August while I was living at my dads farm. He was 17 and I was 18 at the time. The next January I moved down to Melbourne but whenever I went to visit dad on the farm I always expected Jacky boy to come trotting up the driveway to greet me like he did when I got off the school bus.It does take awhile before you stop looking for them

noisymina
I don't want to labour the point, guys, but just got to post this one. Even on her last day, she still wouldn't throw the cat off her bed. I decided to try putting the cat mat down next to the dog bed that day. Dunno why, just did. And settled them down in their respective places. I went back out there a few minutes later and this is what I found: Really viscious Dobermann she was. ;)
