PennyGB
Hi All We have a 12 week old boston terrier, Archer. Unfortunately we need to leave him alone for about 8 hours tomorrow due to work (most of the time he's only alone for 2-4 hours). I know leaving him alone this long isn't ideal but we're trying to decide whether to leave him inside or put him outside. The main problem being we have heard the neighbour yelling at him to shut up when he has cried, we have introduced Archer to the neighbour and asked that he please let us know if there's any problems but he seems to prefer to yell at him when he thinks we're not home Other info: Pup sleeps inside during the night in the kitchen but is also happy outside and has a cosy kennel although he prefers to nap on his inside bed (or our laps!). He will be left with plenty of water, food, interactive treat dispensers, toys, blankets etc regardless of where he is. Any advice is greatly appreciated
Sandra777
Inside, no reason to antagonise the neighbour and if he's not been left outside for more than a couple of hours, who knows what he (Archer, not the neighbour!) might get up to. Confined inside so he can't trash the place and left with his toys he should be fine. Another word with the neighbout might not hurt either. PennyGB
Thanks Sandra777 We left him inside and he seemed pretty content when I got home, going to stop by and ask the neighbour again if there were any problems...
Katie P
Is there any chance you could install a doggy door? That way he has access to both and you don't have to worry so much about it

If we are both at work we always leave our dogs inside up until they are around 12 months of age. Don't know why just feel safer that way.
PennyGB
Hi Katie P doggy door is a great idea I think. We live in a rental (love our landlord for agreeing to a puppy!) but are looking at those doors that are like an insert between the existing door and wall that has an in-built doggy door, we just need permission to drill a few holes into the wall... warval dobe, I totally understand, I felt much better knowing he was inside (in a safe area) but he just loves his outside time so I felt a bit mean. He's so close to being fully vaccinated, I think once we can take him out for a good walk before leaving the house I will feel better Luckily my husband works shifts so it's only about once every 2 weeks we need to leave him for that long but we do want him to be happy alone so working on the independence!
