since I had to say a sudden good bye to my Rex. It seems it was a week ago not a year ago. If I say his name my other dogs put the ears up and sometimes go looking for him.

I miss him heaps, I thought it will get easier with time, maybe it did a bit, but there are days that I wish I could give him a hug.

It's just about a year since I lost my last boy, Sabbath a Rottie. I still think of him every day. We wish we could hug him too. Still get tears when i think too much. My heart still hurts.

Tomorrow we get a new boy, an Amstaff. Not going to compare them as that's not fair. And in years to come my heart will break again. In the time before that happens I'm going to enjoy every minute with him!

I feel for you. It doesn't get too much easier in only a year does it?

One year is only a second in time, a heart beat, for them who await the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, Mon. One year is a long time but a short time. You'll never ever forget Rex, but it does get easier.

I lost Kal, gosh .... about 5 years ago now. I sit on my lounge chair, look up at her picture which resides on the wall nearby, and I softly smile ....... and pray for her to give me the wisdom, knowledge, ability and 'dog sense' to train Mandela to be the best dog he can be, and I thank her for everything she taught me that has allowed me to teach Mandela much of what I have.

I agree with you ..... even after these years, I just wanna give her a great big hug. I still miss her, but it eases with more time.

MonElite, after also saying a sudden goodbye to my German Shepherd earlier this year, my heart goes out to you and I understand how much you miss your beautiful Rex. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could have just one more cuddle. I've been feeling sad today too, and missing my beautiful boy, as I realise a special friend will be visiting me tomorrow (I haven't seen her since before I lost Silas), she loved him to bits and he used to howl with joy whenever he saw her, I'm going to miss that howl tomorrow

 to you

I miss his head tilt, when he tried to listen to words in sentences. I miss his deep bark that I only heard when there was a need for one. I miss his smell, wag of a tail and warmth of his body when get got up on the bed gently so u wouldn't see him lol. He was my best friend ever.

Rex lives forever in your heart and memory MonElite...

I lost my Rotti girl Woosie back in 2004, and I know exactly how you are feeling. The pain of not being able to physically connect with our beloved babies never lessens, but with time we can learn to harness that to remember them with love, and take some comfort that they shared their lives with us so fully and with such love and trust.

MonElite there are some very special memories here of Rex - even though you miss him heaps it's great that you can look back at all the wonderful memories that made him so special to you :)

Yes there is a fair bit of him on DOL. Do you older members remember a thread when I took him to work and he run around the office and stolen someons teddy bear from the desk?
