Tapua
Just wanting some clarification - I thought that the catagory in each breed section called 'Past Champion' refered to quality deceased dogs not dogs which are still alive and either showing currently or retired fromt he show ring. Some of the breed owners in the Kelpie 'past Champion' section are listing retired but very much alive dog or currently showing dogs in the wrong section. Have the catagories changed to include retired dogs in that area as well?

Miss B
View the champions of this breed from days gone by. To me, it means any past Champions in the breed - either deceased or retired. I wouldn't put a dog currently being exhibited in 'Past Champions'.
Libertybrook
I have one CH in past Champions and she is well and truly alive, 10 years old but retired from showing she only comes out for veterans classes or for veteran sweepstakes which she loves doing, she has GR CH and CH kids still in the ring and now has Grand kids going around the ring, I have another whom will be on the past CH's list soon, as he is also retired but again only comes out for specialties & veterans etc, so it can be for both alive and passed on dogs ! Tapua
OK I thought it was just deceased dogs. I am enlightened
Gayle.
Hmmm I've just had a look at some of the past champions, and I would not have thought a dog who was born in 2008, titled in 2009 and not been shown since, would be a "past champion". Especially if that dog is being used in a breeding program.
Alyosha
They may still be deceased, even if only born in the last few years. And if they're male they can still be part of a breeding program (AI) after death...
Gayle.
They aren't deceased and they aren't male. Eta: My interpretation of a "past champion" is a titled dog, living or dead, who contributed to the gene pool and their status is reflected in the pedigrees of later generations. Not a dog that was shown to a title then rehomed to a pet home, or titled recently and is waiting in the wings to be mated. But then my interpretation probably isn't everyones.
