Fatsofatsoman
Okay - calling all Brisbane dog owners - where are your favourite haunts/walks/parks/rivers/beaches for you and your dog? Boonie loves Nudgee Beach, Kedron Brook, Shaw Park running with me, and plenty of dog parks in the area. Please let me in on any gems of places we may be missing. Kroll Dogpark at Redcliffe is quite good, it is a very large enclosure (I mean huge, you can walk to the other end and definitely not hear or see anyone else) so is good if you want the possibility of socialising but also want to be able to go off and play with your dog without being hasseled. I love walking the Wynnum Espy (right near my house) good view and just a nice atmosphere. You need a dog who is ok around lots of distractions ie: kids running, screaming, bikes, scooters, other dogs etc. If you want to go to the Gold Coast there is a dog off leash park and a lake at Mermaid Waters where you can take the dogs for a play and a swim and where it is based is away from main roads etc. It isn't overly busy either and all the dogs I have seen there were well behaved. Love walking the trails at Daisy Hill State Forest, there is an old quarry you can walk to which is full of water like a lake and the dogs can swim there. That is all I can think of right now. Fatsofatsoman
Thanks Keira - will definitely give Wynnum Esp a go - have mates who live in Wynnum who own a lab as well. We tried Kroll Gardens (I used to live in Redcliffe so knew of it) but really didn't like it - just got an uneasy feel about the place.
Guest Ams
Wellington Point is off leash during the week and at low tide you can walk right out to the little island.

Sydoo
I can't remember the name offhand but there is a 4 hectare offleash area in Wavell Heights/Virginia that we like. Downfall Creek runs through it (though not quite enough water lately for proper swimming). Red Beach on Bribie Island is a favourite here as well. Lots of space to run once you walk away from the carpark entrance.

Same Fatsofatsoman about Kroll Gardens - dirty & unmaintained & strange feel about it. Alot of people rave about it though. Jangels loves our local park at Bracken Ridge - up the hill in the opposite direction from Woolies in Barrett Street. Views of the mountains, bay & the city. Really friendly people & dogs. Apparently lots of doggies between 4 - 5 pm. We go in the mornings early & it isn't so busy but nearly always someone for him to play with. Used to go to Nudgee with our old boy Lab jake, but he got attacked once so has turned me off there. The walking track at Peace Park Brighton near Nashville School is a nice spot for an on lead walk. coogie
We go to Kroll Gardens all the time and have not found it dirty other than on the odd weekend when it has been very busy,it is lovely during the week. The council have been much better recently with regard to mowing and repairs. We also go to Sweeney's Reserve at Petrie,a word of warning - the fence is still down at the momment following the floods, although if you have good recall it is not too much of a drama as it is not near the road. The creek is the boundary on one side and the dogs can have swim. Sylvia Gibbs Park, Nyora St, Everton Hills is also good and Beachmere on the Bribie Island Road is fantastic if your dogs are beach fans.
Brennan's Mum
I like the trail near my place at the end of ''The Avenues'' in Kedron. There is a dog park around, and the brook. It's a huge area so plenty of room for families, cyclists, joggers, walkers etc. Plenty of space to walk the dogs too.

Description from ourbrisbane.com: Downfall Creek Reserve, Virginia/Wavell Heights - This is one of Brisbane's largest off-leash areas (4 hectares) and is a huge unfenced place for pooches. Enter from Brickyard Road in Virginia or Jefferis Street in Wavell Heights.
kitty
Nudgee, the Spit & the Wynnum Esplanade are great - but i like our local dog park at Carindale (Meadowlands Rd). We have never really had a problem there, and it's nice and close to home

We have never really had a problem there, and it's nice and close to home I have driven past that one looks nice might have to check it out. We recently moved to Wynnum so the Espy is great I also want to check out Elanora Park it has a dog off leash area but haven't been there yet. Scarlet
Sweeneys Reserve on Old Dayboro Rd in Petrie is quite good. It is just past the police station / court house. Its a large park and a section is off leash - the North Pine River is one boundary so obviously that part isn't fenced. The water is a mix of salt and fresh
