JulesP
I was embarrassed buying the Supercoat in MegaPet!! Coles it isn't so bad. The thing with grain free feeds is is you take the grain out then you have to fill it with something else, hence the higher protein levels. The higher protein levels haven't really bothered me in feeds as dogs are well carnivorous. I would be slightly concerned with pumping a lot of a high protein diet into a pup as I don't want fast growth. (I believe fast growth can lead to OCD type problems). I feed kibble as only 50% of the dogs diet anyhow. For me the problem with BH was the brewers yeast. (Disclaimer - I fed Holistic Lamb & Rice which is pretty much the same recipe as BH). And wheat is a problem, which I ran into in other kibbles.
best4koda
Well this kibble snob went and bought Super coat sensative to give it a go due to the budget. I'm hoping my Koda is a cheap kibble dog as she has been having probs ever since going onto the dear stuff. Will let you know how she gets on. I don't like all the grains in the kibbles either....after looking at the ingredients wasn't that far from what she was on in proplan sensative except proplan had more fancy named additives and the brewers yeast so I thought it was worth a try. Watch this space.
JulesP
Good luck best4koda! Happy to report Amber is back eating the kibble. Even happier to report that after a couple of weeks on the kibble she has not a rash in sight. Happy days. She is feeling very very good too. She is a bit flat when she is rashy. PetSitters
I tried a lot of different kibble and feeding regimes to help one of my GSD's who suffered digestive problems with constant soft poos. I found Royal Canin GSD 24 for this dog was by far the best for him and he loves the kibble pieces as treats too. Once getting on to the Royal Canin regime, his poo's returned to normal, he gained weight from being on the skinny side and his coat condition an lustre improved dramatically and for him, I can't be more pleased with benefits the Royal Canin regime provided. Apart from correcting his digestive issues which were my major concern, his coat as a consolation is beautiful and shiny now and was amazing the improvement of his coat condition, I couldn't believe the difference.
