Rebanne
the ruling about not showing a bitch until 10 weeks after whelping, is that Australia wide or only in Victoria? If it is only a Victorian rule can a person be penalised by showing their bitch in another state before the 10 weeks are up? I just want to know the ruling not whether or not it should be done thank you.

I would say regardless which state the bitch was shown in, if the exhibitor is a member of Vic Dogs then that rule would apply if they are the owner of the bitch as per the catalogue listing. It will be interesting to see what others say about this as it seems that the rule is not being observed and adhered to amongst many breeds. WreckitWhippet
Call the VCA. I would have thought that if you decided to show in NSW, you would be subject to their rules not VIC. Stupid bloody rule it is anyway. If pups can leave home at 8 weeks, then at the very least you should be able to show from that date.

darwinroyal
Serious question? Who was going to police the rule as it was? ...and yes I am interested to hear an update.
Stolzseinrotts
Good question. Like most "rules" that are imposed, most of them are not enforced and or policed. I am unable to find the update about this rule, nor am I able to find the rule on the VicDogs website.........can somebody tell me where I might find a complete listing of all the rules and regulations set out by the VCA. I can find some rules and regulations, but not all. Edited May 10, 2011 by Stolzseinrotts
Rebanne
The only thing I found out about the rule on the VCA website is what has been previously broadcast. Can't show a bitch past 4 weeks in whelp and after the pups are 10 weeks old unless you have a vet certificate saying bitch is healthy and can be shown. Also found a rule saying if you are an interstate member showing in Vic you have to abide by the VCA rules and regs. Not sure what happens if the VCA stuff differs to another state. And yes who regulates it? RSG has a very good point, pups can leaves at 8 weeks, why does a bitch have to stay home for another 2? Couldn't find the new rules about microchipping pups in Vic either. Very confusing Edited May 11, 2011 by Rebanne
