Danois
maybe you could give people a bit more information about yourself, where is the info going etc and provide a proper email address, rather then a "freebie' one I have to agree - I was going to respond but also wondered where the information is going to go and who is collecting it. There also appears to be a question missing - its asked re registered breeders etc whether you were happy with the pet but the same question is not asked re a pet bought in a pet store. dancinbcs
Survey 1. What are your thoughts of animals in pet shops? Cruel Comments:_Puppies need space to run around not be confined to little boxes with no exercise and nowhere away from their bed to toilet. 2. Would you consider buying an animal from a pet store? No 3. Have you ever brought an animal from a pet shop? No 4. Why did you get the animal from the pet shop? N/A 5. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or still is living with you? Mrs Rusty Bucket
Survey 1. What are your thoughts of animals in pet shops? Cruel Comments: some fish and reptiles excepted 2. Would you consider buying an animal from a pet store? No 3. Have you ever brought an animal from a pet shop? Budgie (before I knew any different) 4. Why did you get the animal from the pet shop? didn't know where else to get one. 5. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or still is living with you? Lived with me until it died. 6. If you answered No for question 5, do you know what happened to the pet? n/a 7. Reason to give the animal up. (circle answer) Other I would give up or PTS my pet if it was causing a danger to other animals or people and I couldn't sort it with training and professional help. I have re-homed a retired riding horse to a friend's farm but I continued to pay for its upkeep until it died of old age. 8. Do you know where pet shops get their animals from? Yes. 9. Does it make you concerned? Yes 10. Do you think Pet shops (pets) are better than shelter pets? No Why/ Why not? Pet shops do not provide appropriate living environment for puppies or kittens. Might be better if the puppies remained with their mother, and/or were supervised and socialised and went to a proper home at night. As for shelters, it depends on the shelter, but at AWL Puppies get more people contact and more exercise time and socialisation with similar animals than pet shop puppies. 11. Have you ever brought an animal from a rescue shelter, group or qualified breeder? Yes - AWL 12. Where you happy with the animal? Yes 13. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or is it still living with you? Yes - still have her.

It is not a matter of being better. I personally own four dogs of which three are rescues 11. Have you ever brought an animal from a rescue shelter, group or qualified breeder? I get my rescues through Breed Rescue for free, because i take on the problem (behaviour) dogs and re-train 12. Where you happy with the animal? I ahave had great success with all our rescues, though the first few month were often difficult 13. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or is it still living with you? Yes, I believe in "forever" homes. Though I take my hat off to people who foster.... Edited May 9, 2011 by newfsie

Guest Panzer Attack!
Just FYI - the results from your survey (if you are only getting answers from here) are going to be a tad unbalanced due to the fact that this is a purebreed dog forum and 99% of the members are against pet stores/designer breeds/puppy farms etc. 1. What are your thoughts of animals in pet shops? Cruel Comments: I probably wouldn't be so vehemently against it if I .ever. saw a well looked after puppy in a PP. I can't remember the last time I walked past and the dogs either looked healthy or the stores didn't absolutely STINK. 2. Would you consider buying an animal from a pet store? No (I'd do the whole guilt thing and wish I could save it, but would never actually pay for a pet from one of those places) 3. Have you ever brought an animal from a pet shop? Yes 4. Why did you get the animal from the pet shop? Because she was the last guinea pig from a litter and only $5. The owner was going to 'get rid' of her and to my 15 year old mind that was just so terrible. 5. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or still is living with you? No 6. If you answered No for question 5, do you know what happened to the pet? Yes 7. Reason to give the animal up. (circle answer) Can’t afford it Moved housed Took too much to care for Too destructive Not good with kids No time Didn’t get on with other animals Other - my father made me get rid of her due to us having a cat and we had nowhere to put her (yay impulse buying!). One of my friends had a guinea pig (also a girl) and she went to live with them. 8. Do you know where pet shops get their animals from? Yes My previous dog (RIP) was a breeding bitch. 9. Does it make you concerned? Yes!!!!! 10. Do you think Pet shops are better than shelter pets? Why/ Why not? No??? Having met a lot of darling little pet store malt x due to my job, definitely not! 11. Have you ever brought an animal from a rescue shelter, group or qualified breeder? Yes - rescue shelter & breeder 12. Where you happy with the animal? Yes - Bambi had problems coming into it but we knew that from day dot. 13. Did the animal live with you till the end of its life or is it still living with you? Yes & No - Bam lived with me til the end, ex took T and Scooter lives with me.
